Job Summary

The Department of Health and Human Services at the University of Michigan-Dearborn is seeking a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Health and Human Services who specializes in health services and administration.  While we welcome candidates with a broad perspective, we would welcome scholars in the areas of health services and policy research, delivery system and payment policy, and healthcare management, and/or healthcare leadership. The faculty member will teach a variety of courses in our newly launched Master of Science in Healthcare Administration & Leadership Program. This program will be transitioning to a fully online program in FAll 2025.  Depending on the applicant?s background and expertise, they may also be asked to teach courses that support our master?s in health information technology. Candidates who have a completed Ph.D. in a discipline related to health administration, including but not limited to, public health, health services, policy analysis, relevant social sciences (health economics, political science, sociology), or related areas are encouraged to apply. 

The preferred candidate will have teaching strengths that support courses such as Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Leadership, US Health and Medical Systems, Financing Health and Medical Systems, and Health Policy.  The potential to develop additional courses in the candidate?s area of expertise are available. A proven ability to develop curricula and teach both in person and online is strongly preferred.

Candidates should have substantive scholarly expertise in one or more defined health services areas in which they would have the potential to develop collaborative research efforts. We seek a colleague with an active research program and track record of published scholarship, as well as an ability to draw on this research to inform their teaching and service.  Candidates engaged in multidisciplinary research or community-based research collaborations are welcomed.  

The successful candidate will join a vibrant community of scholars collectively dedicated to addressing health and human service disparities with expertise in areas including gender and reproductive health, environmental health, patient-centered health care, obesity and chronic disease, and counseling.

Required Qualifications*

Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in public health, health services, policy analysis, relevant social sciences (health economics, political science, sociology), or related areas are encouraged to apply. Persons who are ABD and will complete their doctoral degree by August 15, 2025 are eligible to apply.
