Summary:
The Human Resources Benefits Coordinator Retirement Plans is responsible for assisting with the promotion and administration of all retirement programs, including, but not limited to, life insurance, short and long-term disability, and 401(k) plans. The Benefits Coordinator Retirement Plans will be the primary information source for UNC Health Nash benefit plans.
The Benefits Coordinator Retirement Plans will be the back up to the Benefits Coordinator Health and Welfare and is also responsible for coaching and mentoring other HR teammates who may have benefit duties.
Responsibilities:
- Vendor Contact for Retirement Benefits. Manages the employee Retirement related plans. Works with Benefit vendors to implement system-wide benefit changes at UNC Health Nash. Assists in scheduling the Employee Benefits Fare and works with HR Leadership on a list of retirement related vendors to invite to participate in the Benefit Fair.
- Administrator for American Trust Distribution Paperwork. Accurately and promptly addressed all employees’ inquiries relating to retirement. Works with vendors to resolve any issues or disputes regarding the provision of benefits. Assists in the audit on non-electronic records related to Retirement Plans.
- Retirement Benefit Enrollment for New Hires and Current Staff. Assists employees in filling out the paperwork for their benefits packages and explaining the various benefits. Co-Leads Benefit sessions on company benefits during orientation.
- Ensures confidentiality of all information presented or provided to HR. Does not discuss or provide confidential information to inappropriate personnel. Communicates positively, directly, clearly, accurately, and timely in all interactions and conveys confidential information to others only as authorized.
- Serves employees with needs pertaining to retirement, 401k, and Hardship Loans. Provides the employee with accurate information promptly.
- Employee service. This position addresses employee inquiries about retirement related issues and refers the employee to the vendor when possible. The coordinator works with vendors to resolve any problems or disputes regarding the provision of benefits. The coordinator stays up to date on state and federal regulations.
- Conducts retirement related benefit exit interview with employees.
- Supplemental Retirement: Refers employee retirement inquiries to the appropriate vendor. Provides employees with a current listing of retirement planning resources
- Process all Death Benefits claims. Works with the vendor and beneficiary to resolve any issues and to process the claim.
- Partners with HR Retention Manager and Risk on Investigation as appropriate for any retirement related benefit-related issues or inquiries. Helps to provide resolutions for any issues on retirement related benefit-related problems with the assistance of the HR Retention Manager and Risk Manager.
- Adheres to the Nash Human Resources standards for an HR professional and an HR teammate.
- Assist HR Experience Specialist, with daily functions as necessary.
- Other duties that are assigned.

Education Requirements:
- Associate Degree in Human Resources or related field required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
- No license or Certification required.
Professional Experience Requirements:
- 2-4 years of experience in Retirement benefits. Health and Welfare, Benefits administration.
