Job Description: Our client, a large defense contractor, has an immediate opening for a Principal Design Drafting Technician to work remote from home in the U.S. While providing leadership to a team of drafters, the Principal Design Drafting Technician will perform detailed design and documentation of mechanical components or subsystems, by producing two-dimensional (2D) or three-dimensional (3D) CAD work product output for fabrication and assembly. We will seek your counsel on determining scale, inserting necessary reference planes, centering and dimension lines, hidden line interpolations, and sectioning along with preparing specifications for parts, assemblies, and installations. You'll prepare complete production detail drawings and contribute design modifications to improve quality of product or facilitate manufacturing operations.

Qualifications: Associate's degree or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience. Due to the nature of this work U.S. citizenship is required.


What you bring to the table:

  • An Associate's degree or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Distinct knowledge of material requirements, fabrication techniques, and manufacturability concepts
  • Experienced in the use of current strategic CAD tools; Cadence OrCAD or Cadence Allegro is strongly desired
  • Design and layout high-density multi-layer printed circuit boards (PCBs) using industry-standard CAD tools
  • Solid understanding of simple mechanical stress; structural, thermal and tolerance analysis
