The RDK (Reference Design Kit) software stack is an open sourced, Linux based platform developed by Comcast that powers tens of millions of customer devices for Comcast and our RDK partners. The RDK Platform Software team is responsible for maintaining all the core software services that power the RDK Platform, providing device management and monitoring services to the application layer. This team plays a pivotal role in driving adoption of RDK as the global software platform of choice for embedded Broadband, Entertainment and Home Security devices. The RDK Platform team is seeking a Sr. Director, Software Development & Engineering to lead a global team developing Linux based RDK Platform Services software. In this role you will be responsible for driving the team's execution of our vision for developing simple, re-usable software solutions that can scale across a large range of different device types and applications. This includes responsibility for open-source management, Linux networking, platform configuration, device management, device monitoring, performance and memory management, debug tooling, and much more. Candidates should have a strong technical background and experience of managing teams developing embedded Linux device software.

Core Responsibilities
- Manage a team responsible for developing and maintaining a Linux-based software stack using agile development methodologies
- Develop and execute a vision for Platform development efforts across broadband, entertainment and home security product offerings.
- Work with multiple internal and external stakeholders including product managers, RDK business partners, vendors and the open-source community todevelop high level team roadmaps
- Oversee high level architectural direction, act as a technical expert and align architectural decisions with the team's strategic goals.
- Communicate progress against quarterly deliverables to internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage a geographically distributed team of engineers, providing support on recruitment, retention and growth.
- Manage and prioritize project tasks, estimate schedules, and identify potential project impediments; collaborate with software architects and other stakeholders to define architecture and design requirements.
- Collaborate with test and release engineering functions to manage project tasks using the Agile Sprint methodology
- Foster a culture of cross-team collaboration amongst all team members, promoting innovation.
- Create a culture of high-performing, motivated and lean delivery teams by focusing on employee feedback, training opportunities and other activities.
- Manage and execute on budget for all initiatives within the team to support our departmental and syndicated product offerings.
- Consistently challenge yourself and the team to improve quality and development velocity, reduce costs and identify opportunities
- Negotiate for resources with leadership team, ensuring the team has necessary resources, training, and staff to achieve strategic and operating goals.
Key Skills
- Managing embedded Linux Software Development in C/C++
- Experience delivering large software projectson schedule
Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with key technologies and processes including RDK, Yocto, Linux debug tools, Linux Internet Protocol (IP) networking , Agile and DevOps
- Experience managing globally distributed teams
- Experience developing video and/or broadband CPE equipment
