The basic purpose of this role is to provide effective leadership in managing site wide maintenance activities. To ensure that sound corrective, preventive and predictive maintenance practices are performed to obtain reliable operation of critical equipment and processes. The Group Leader, Maintenance will visibly execute the implementation of agreed upon improvement initiatives and oversee the successful achievement of all pertinent departmental goals, ensuring that all internal safety and maintenance related GMP compliance requirements and external regulatory requirements are followed.
The Group Leader, Maintenance will develop a framework for partnering with all co-workers with focus on production personnel and the utilities maintenance group to establish the necessary teamwork required to achieve departmental and Company goals and objectives. The incumbent will foster an environment of continuous improvement while considering developing personnel skills as well as adopt an analytical approach ensuring that sound maintenance and facility decisions are achieved through good leadership and focused management skills.
Duties & Responsibilities
Team Leader
- Manage maintenance and related process improvements to ensure reliable and compliant production equipment operation. Perform and execute planning and scheduling of maintenance activities, including scheduling and hiring of outside contractors to complete production and facility repairs. Write, schedule, review and close work orders including production equipment preventive maintenance work orders.
- Assist the production group with technical problems and operational issues. Assist the process engineering group with process improvement.
- Schedule and perform annual production equipment rebuilds and facility shut downs as needed.
- Write departmental procedures (SOPs, Preventive Maintenance Procedures etc.) in compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate policy and procedures. Write and complete Change Controls as needed.
- Perform follow up of completed work, evaluations on direct reports. Provides regular coaching, feedback, and support to subordinates. Identifies additional development and training opportunities for direct reports.
- Identify and stock critical spare parts to support production. Research and purchase new equipment and or tools to support production processes.
Group Leader
- Leads all assigned maintenance personnel and contractors in assuring all requirements of their assignments and responsibility are clearly communicated and understood.
- Fosters an attitude of teamwork, compliance, quality, safety, and productivity.
- Takes prompt action to remediate employee performance issues while recognizing and rewarding positive results and performance.
- Provides leadership and hands-on action for emergency response to process and facility issues.
- Notifies maintenance and production process personnel as directed to assure timely communication and response.
- Identifies training needs and provide training opportunities.
- Provides hands-on on-the-job training to technicians.
- Works with Reliability Engineering and Process Engineering to improve reliability and performance of production process equipment and utility equipment.
- Ensures timely review of completed work orders verifying timely and detailed documentation.
- Verifies work is following departmental workflows.
Requirements
Group Leader
- Professional Training and/or Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum of five (5) years progressive experience in a maintenance related field including proven skills in the leadership of maintenance personnel.
- Four to six (4-6) years of leadership experience.
- A background in a GMP bio or pharma production process environment is highly desirable.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
Team Leader
- High School Diploma or Equivalent, and professional Training/Certification in Maintenance Related Field required (Refrigeration, Electrical, and Boiler or Apprenticeship Training preferred).
- Eight (8) years of experience in a maintenance craft.
- Three (3) years of BI experience or supervisory experience in a maintenance related field.
- Five (5) years experience leading projects.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Effective interpersonal skills with a diverse group of individuals at all organizational levels.
- Experience with CMMS maintenance software & SAP preferred.
- Boiler Level 1 Certification, preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to customer needs.
- Excellent internal customer service.
- Ability to prioritize business needs.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
- Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
