Senior Packaging Designer
Our client, is seeking a highly creative and experienced Senior Packaging Designer to join our dynamic team! This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week onsite at our SE Portland, Oregon office. About the Role:
As a Senior Packaging Designer, you will be a key player in developing innovative and compliant packaging solutions for our diverse product lines. You will be responsible for creating eye-catching and effective designs, from concept to completion, while ensuring adherence to brand guidelines and industry regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop packaging for a variety of consumer products, including food, beverages, health and beauty, and general merchandise, with a focus on boxes, labels, flexible packaging, etc
- Create original designs and adapt existing brand elements to maintain a cohesive brand identity across all packaging formats.
- Collaborate closely with marketing, product development, and production teams to ensure packaging aligns with product requirements, marketing strategies, and production feasibility.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks effectively and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Prepare detailed production-ready artwork files, including dielines, color separations, and specifications, for release to printers and other vendors.
- Conduct press checks to ensure the final printed packaging meets quality standards and design intent.
- Stay informed about industry trends, new technologies, and evolving regulatory requirements (FPLA, NIST) within the packaging industry.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of proven experience in packaging design, with a strong portfolio showcasing your skills and expertise in CPG or general merchandise packaging.
- Comprehensive understanding of packaging design principles, including typography, color theory, layout, and visual hierarchy.
- In-depth knowledge of packaging production processes and pre-press procedures, including color separation and file preparation for different printing methods.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat) with expertise in Pantone Connect and custom extensions/libraries.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly articulate design concepts and provide constructive feedback.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with a proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or a related field.
Bonus Points:
- Experience with Adobe Workfront or similar project management software.
- Experience with commercial photography art direction.
Experience working on large-scale projects for enterprise-level clients.
Compensation & Benefits:
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $27 to $30 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
