Job Summary
The position of Vice Provost for Assessment and Accreditation will be responsible for effectively addressing issues affecting our institutional accreditation and to provide support to program-level accreditation efforts. The selected candidate for this position will be through an internal search from UM-Flint tenure or clinical track faculty members who apply through this posting.
The role will be 75% administrative and 25% faculty.
This position will report directly to the Provost and will ensure that the Provost's Office remains efficiently managed with the support of two Vice Provosts.
Ideally, the position will start on January 1, 2025.
Responsibilities*
- Advising the Provost on all assessment and program-level and institutional accreditation related issues
- Working with Academic Assessment and Policy Committee (AAPC), consider assessment plans for new and revised proposals and assisting the Provost in reviewing and evaluating department and program assessment activities
- Providing feedback to, and consult with, departments and programs to ensure a standard of quality in student outcomes assessment consistent with policies and expectations of Higher Learning Commission (HLC)
- Advising and assisting the Provost Office in formulating assessment policy, making recommendations for and professional development related to assessment, and prepare materials on student learning for HLC accreditation
- Representing the Provost Office in appropriate faculty committees, including AAPC
- Provide oversight and be responsible for the implementation of the institution's program review process
- Review and provide feedback to accredited programs on their self-study reports involving internal program review and/or external program-level accreditation
- Maintenance of central database of all accredited programs status, upcoming, review dates, last final self-study reports, last team reports, and last accreditation status letters
- Communication of responses to HLC inquiries regarding accredited programs status
- Steering all reporting and communication activities, including self-study reports, related to institutional HLC accreditation
- Roles and responsibilities associated with Accreditation Liaison Officer at HLC
- Attending the weekly Provost Office meetings
Required Qualifications*
- Must be a UM-Flint faculty member actively employed in a tenure or clinical track position for more than 4 years
- At least three years of administrative experience related to program and/or institutional accreditation
- Familiarity with HLC accreditation
Modes of Work
Hybrid:
The work requirements allow both onsite and offsite work and an employee has an expected recurring onsite presence. On occasion, the employee may be required and must be available to work onsite more frequently if necessitated by unit leadership or their designee and/or the job requirements.
