The Technician II, Packaging Athens effectively and efficiently operates packaging and labeling equipment in order to package quality products per BI's Standards and in compliance with the USDA.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Adheres to Standard Operating Procedures to operate packaging equipment (Printers, Coders, Labelers, Vision systems, Tray assemblers, Heat tunnels, Dryers, Forklift, Storage units, etc.)
- Assists during set up of Packaging equipment (Printers, Coders, Labelers, Vision systems, Tray assemblers, Heat tunnels, etc.)
- Maintains all waste materials in the proper satellite storage bins.
- Assists in completing all documentation required to request all products, materials, components, general supplies required for the day-to-day operations of the packaging department.
- Accurately performs reconciliations within the batch records of products, materials, and components used in packaging.
- Effectively and efficiently assists in troubleshooting packaging equipment to package quality products per standard operating procedures.
- Effectively provides/reports information on process deviations.
- Trains others as assigned/needed.
- Observes, challenges, advises, and supports teammates to adhere to policies and/or procedures.
- Effectively communicates process and/or equipment needs.
- Responsible for data entry which includes recording product packaging information, downtime, and standard production yields.
- Maintains a safe, clean and organize work environment.
- Maintains facilities and equipment as required by Standard Operating Procedures.

- This position may require the handling, storing, and managing of hazardous waste and this employee shall comply with all applicable state and federal laws.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years relevant experience; 3 years relevant experience preferred.
- Successful completion of the hazardous waste management training program within six months of their employment or assignment should this be the case. Such an employee must not work in unsupervised positions until they have successfully completed the hazardous waste management training requirements and must take part in an annual review in addition to the initial training. This training program includes classroom instruction and on-the-job training to ensure they perform their duties in compliance with the requirements of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, (RCRA).
Preferred:
- Twelve (12) months of manufacturing experience.
- Equipment troubleshooting knowledge and skills.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
- Ability to operate a reach truck forklift.
- Basic aptitude for math and computer skills.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
- Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
