Our agency client is seeking a REMOTE, freelance Technical Proofreader/Quality Assurance Specialist to start as soon as next week for 40 hours a week for 1-2 months with the potential to extend.
The Technical Proofreader is responsible for providing quality inspection and thorough examination of work
to ensure all client deliverables are met. The ideal Proofreader has a technical background and understands the QA/QC process as it relates to packaging prepress as well as regulations for consumer packaged goods (CPG).
Technical Proofreader Responsibilities:
- Inspect and proofread all work assigned to ensure the client deliverables are correct the first time
- Analyze information provided by the client against internal written documentation as well as supplied printer specifications to ensure accuracy of all work
- Inspect or proofread all work by utilizing the comparator tool on all cycles of work within the job ticket
- Daily communication with the account team on project timelines
- Provide timely feedback and direction to production personnel if errors are found during the quality inspection process
- Verify and certify all codes for compliance to specification
- Communicate with the account team as it relates to questions or concerns that may need client resolution
- Perform any other duties as requested by the account team or supervisor.
Technical Proofreader Requirements:
- 3+ years experience in QA/QC process as it relates to packaging prepress
- Strong working knowledge of consumer packaged goods and current FDA regulations and packaging guidelines
- Computer proficiency within the Macintosh platform
- Proven experience showing strength in grammar, vocabulary and regulatory guidelines for packaging
- General knowledge of the printing industry and print specifications as it relates to packaging.
- Knowledge of Esko Automation Engine, ArtPro, Dot Spy or similar comparative programs.
- Required knowledge of trapping, printer mins, print curves, file resolution, dot structure, screening and various final file formats
- General knowledge of Google Sheets and Google Docs
- Knowledge of typography is a plus
- Ability to work in Illustrator
- Candidate must have own equipment and software
