Andaz Miami Beach is now recruiting a Stewarding Team Lead to join the hotel’s opening team. An art-deco building and architectural landmark is home to the newest luxury lifestyle hotel located in the heart of Mid-beach. Opening in early 2025, the property boasts 287 guestrooms including 34 breathtaking suites and the ONLY Ocean-view arrival experience in Miami Beach. The design features elements of texture, art, and pops of color that create a unique and captivating experience. Each suite is designed with floor-to-ceiling windows, most with deep-soaking tubs, and cozy reading nooks. Guests can also enjoy private outdoor terraces with stunning views of the Atlantic and the Miami skyline. Unmatched amenities include a full-service spa, a well-equipped fitness center, a destination dining experience by José Andrés, two pools, and a Beach Club catering to the who’s who of Miami. Position Summary
The Stewarding Team Lead is primarily responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of all hotel china, silverware and cookware. This person must have good communication skills and the ability to understand and complete banquet contracts. This person needs to have the ability to lift, push and pull a moderate amount of weight. This is a fast-paced position that will involve constant customer interaction.
Position Responsibilities/ Essential Functions
- Develop and implement strategies for stewarding area that are aligned with the hotel’s food and beverage objectives.
- Support the luxury dining experience by maintaining supplies for food and beverage service.
- Maintain par levels of stock; complete requisition for additional supplies as appropriate.
- Monitor supply of clean dishware, glassware and pans; take corrective action to maintain supply level.
- Schedule employees based upon forecasted volumes.
- Assist with training employees on proper cleaning methods and operation of the equipment.
- Check the proper operation of the dish machine/cleaning equipment daily.
- Assist with keeping food and beverage areas clean.
- Assist with leading steward personnel in the cleaning of floors, work surfaces, etc.
- Develop and implement schedule for special projects.
- Ensure that all work surfaces are clean and sanitized regularly.
- Ensure Safety equipment is used for appropriate tasks.
- Schedule labor force and assign work for efficient use of equipment and personnel.
- Plan, manage, and monitor work as well as hiring, communicating, coaching staff, and building
- relationships.
- Plan, coordinate & implement special events and holiday functions for the team;
- Manage hourly kitchen employees through scheduling, payroll, training, coaching, and evaluating.
- Organize and facilitate departmental meetings, training and goals setting
- Complete various additional tasks and assignments as needed.
Qualifications
- Two (2) years work experience as a Steward in a hotel or restaurant with good standards is desirable;
- Basic knowledge of Kitchen hygiene.
- Committed to exceptional customer service;
- Professional in appearance;
- Keen on satisfying the needs of others in a fast paced environment;
- Able to lift, push and pull moderate weight of 50lbs;
- Able to stand for long periods of time;
- Able to take direction, is flexible, is a team player and has a positive attitude;
- Able to work holidays and be flexible regarding availability to work.
