This position is located at Bureau of the Fiscal Service, Office of the Chief Data Officer, Data Transparency Division, Branch as assigned. The mission is to disseminate high-quality financial data, deliver state-of-the art analytics, and transform the Treasury into a world leader in public sector data.

Duties

As a Statistician (Data Scientist), you will

Independently develop research studies, analyses, and projects that affect the programs and policies of the Bureau of the Fiscal Service and other government agencies.
Lead complex analytical studies within a specific product, such as USAspending.gov, Data Lab, or Fiscal Data.
Work as a part of a team to build projects from start to finish, participating in projects and make proposals for new and innovative projects within the Office of the Chief Data Officer (OCDO).
Influence and collaborate with stakeholders to build partnerships for sharing and improving open data.
Manage special projects including evaluations of various functional, operational and financial activities and develop and/or manage special briefings, reports, etc.

Qualifications

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or . One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
- Experience in all stages of the data analytic cycle, including data collection, preprocessing, analysis, and visualization Proficient in designing and implementing complex data analysis plans and strategies; AND
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, R or SQL for advanced data manipulation, statistical analysis and machine learning model development; AND
- Excellent communication skills to effectively convey complex data analysis results to technical and non-technical audiences. Experience in producing high-quality report, interactive data visualizations, and impactful presentations; AND
- Experience leading and managing research projects independently. Experience in formulating research strategies, collaborating independently with interdisciplinary teams, and mentoring junior data scientists in research methodologies
