Job Description:
POSITION PURPOSE:Responsible for the gathering and maintenance of project requirements, metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. used to document projects within the credit union. Supports the project management office team through improving processes, products, services and software through data analysis. Bridge the gap between IT and the business to improve efficiency. Identify and then prioritize technical and functional requirements. Works with PMO team and other IT staff to support managerial and strategic project management needs.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
Business Analysts engage with business leaders and users to understand how data-driven changes to process, products, services, software and hardware can improve efficiencies and add value. They must articulate those ideas but also balance them against what’s technologically feasible and financially and functionally reasonable. Business Analysts work with business, IT groups and data sets to improve products, hardware, tools, software, services or process. The individual must be able to analyze and interpret data contained in reports and dashboards. The individual must be able to work with users from all levels of management to assist in implementing useful performance reporting and other operational reports.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
- Determines relevant data needs and coordinates with team and other IT staff to fulfill those needs.
b) Work with business, management and other staff to assess various reporting needs.
c) Develops an understanding of underlying corporate data sources and their relationships to support project success.
d) Analyze reporting needs and requirements. Assess current reporting in the context of strategic goals and devise plans for delivering the most appropriate reporting solutions to users.
2) Maintains recurring and ad-hoc project management requirements, reports and dashboards.
- Extracts operational, performance, statistical and other data from various sources.
- Maintains & answers questions for reporting and analysis needs of the projects.
- Uses various software applications such as desktop tools, spreadsheets, report writing software, statistical software, graphical presentation tools, and project management applications to assemble, manipulate and/ or format data and/or reports.
- Works within controls to ensure the accuracy, timeliness and confidentiality of all requirements, views, dashboards, analyses and data.
- Assists in training and supports end users on access of requirements.
- Assists and supports credit union personnel as needed.
3) Works closely with project management office to interpret and analyze results.
- Analyzes, interprets and summarizes outputs.
- Participates in the interpretation and context of requirements gathering process
- Assists IT, QA and business for testing and roll out needs.
- Identifies exceptions, positive and negative trends and measures that are out of tolerance with established limits and ranges, while working with project managers.
- Identifies potential concerns based on projections of current trends.
- Performs statistical and data analysis of requirements for management and other credit union personnel on key observations and findings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have prior experience working business intelligence tools in large or midsize companies.
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and react to problems quickly.
- Must be able to translate concepts and directions into practical solutions.
- Must have an understanding of relational database structures, multi-dimensional
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be a team player.
- Understanding of the financial services industry desired.
- Familiarity with Smartsheet, Jira, Confluence and Sharepoint desired
- Experience with dashboard design and delivery desired.
• 10+ years of experience in gathering, maintaining and supporting successful projects in technical and financial institutions.
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or other business related field. Equivalent experience may substitute for education qualifications.
