The Role

Do you want to make a difference in our customers' lives and be part of a highly collaborative, cross-functional team committed to improving the value of Fidelity's Wealth Management advice driven investment solution offerings within Fidelity Institutional's (FI) Portfolio Construction Solutions team?

We are looking for a Squad Leader who will join our Portfolio Construction Solutions team and will be accountable for implementing the development of the portfolio construction platform to support model portfolios and analytics tools.

The platform features will not only be used by members of the Portfolio Management team but also by Investment Specialists, Regional Directors, Relationship Managers, etc. in discussions with external clients. The scope of this platform includes integration with risk modeling, optimization, manager research, financial planning engine and internal & external trading applications.

You will bring experience leading technology initiatives combined with strong domain expertise in portfolio construction.

You will ultimately empower and guide a team of technologists that enables and improves the delivery of model portfolio construction & analytical tools, thus helping to build an Integrated Portfolio Construction solution.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Owning the end-to-end management of driving a roadmap, aligning priorities, conveying vision, and articulating an end-state experience for portfolio construction applications
  • Delivering on Squad Leader responsibilities such as translating business objectives into strategy and approach, prioritizing backlogs and sprints, defining the business process and KPIs, and owning vendor relationships
  • Assisting with the development and oversight of a robust portfolio construction platform and data environment
  • Collaborating and coordinating with Chapter Leaders, Scrum Masters, Engineers, and UX designers and enabling squad member growth, development, and learning
  • Establishing a track record of contributing to high-performing, Agile teams
  • Collaborating across the organization to ensure the platform meet the needs of all stakeholders and ensuring product strategies are integrated
  • Ensuring the platform enables scalable development and management of multi-asset class, open architecture model portfolios
  • Working with partners and peers to determine the appropriate integration options (e.g., risk models, optimizers, trading applications) for use on the portfolio construction platform and analytics engine
  • Support the business case and rationale for new features and innovations
  • Making informed trade-off decisions to strike the right balance between quality, cost, and timelines

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (e.g., Finance, Computer Science, Mathematics) or equivalent work experience
  • Proven experience overseeing and building technology infrastructure used in the portfolio construction process
  • Strong working knowledge and expertise with portfolio construction techniques, demonstrating knowledge of different risk models, optimization approaches and quantitative portfolio construction methods
  • Deep knowledge and familiarity with portfolio analytics like risk and return, asset exposure, performance for instruments like mutual funds, ETFs, stocks, and bonds
  • Proven ability and working experience with investment data and building systematic solutions
  • Extensive experience acting as a product owner across multiple and different product lifecycles
  • Proven leadership skills and experience inspiring others
  • Highly effective interpersonal and teamwork skills that enable the cultivation of relationships across investment, technology, distribution, and other teams across Fidelity
  • Ability to think strategically and work with colleagues across Fidelity to develop and resource multi-year plans
  • Continuously improve and encourage an Agile way of working
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

The mission of this dynamic Portfolio Construction Solutions team is to enable FI to provide advice driven investment solutions through high-value products, tools, and thought leadership insights. The FI Portfolio Solutions team comprises the following groups: Portfolio Engineering, Investments Manager Research, Portfolio Construction Guidance; and Portfolio Construction Tools & Analytics. The Teams work together to propel our clients' wealth management strategies with the best of Fidelity and our third-party asset management partners.
