We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Product Designer to join our newly formed team and drive design across all our local news products and services. Our team ensures that our business, and its local news publications, remains on the forefront of digital journalism.

As the Senior Product Designer, you will help reimagine and shape the vision for how local news is presented and consumed across our 70+ local news digital publications. You will develop and demonstrate deep domain knowledge, product expertise, and an understanding of complex customer use cases and deployment models. You'll deeply understand the needs of our customers, help set the vision for the product grounded in those needs, and partner with cross-functional teams to build it iteratively.

If you live and breathe design, if you care about the impact of local news on our society, if you can’t stop thinking about how to help improve people’s lives, and you want to work on some of the most exciting design challenges of our times to inspire and enable a better future, let's be in touch!

In this role, you will:

  • Design web and mobile app interfaces and interactions that are elegant, accessible, intuitive, and delightful with a deep understanding of our customers.
  • Create, test and iterate the product's information architecture, wireframes, user journeys and bring the features to life.
  • Champion a Human-Centered process to collaborate across the company in prioritizing and solving scenarios and create impactful solutions that are aligned with our brand and push our strategy.
  • Take the time to understand not just the execution side of UX, but also the business aspects of the products we build. You'll collaborate with leaders of other functional teams to create innovative experiences across all business products, leveraging your passion for brand, craft, and design quality.
  • Influence stakeholders across organizations to gain support for design approaches.
  • Help drive a holistic design process, design system, or design language across teams and/or products.
  • Partner closely with UX Research in designing and running research studies and leverage research insights and communicate design solutions to inform product direction across different audiences.
  • Be KPI and data focused (understands business goals and variables laddering up to them, as well as stay data informed with both qual and quant discovery).
  • Own improvements in design based on UX testing and stakeholder input and provide guidance and expertise to effectively engage stakeholders on product design to achieve product goals.
  • Own project priorities, including aligning resources effectively to help with the design project work.

What we are looking for:

  • 8+ years of relevant design experience in product design or UX.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in developing and delivering app design for web, iOS and Android.
  • Proficient in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite and basic UX prototyping skills.
  • Full-stack designer. Proficient in interaction design, visual design and aesthetics, typography, human factors, information architecture and user journeys.
  • Experience working across multiple platforms, with the ability to switch between low-level product details and high-level ecosystem needs.
  • Experience constructing end-product quality prototypes of consumer experiences.
  • Excellent communication skills that excite stakeholders and articulate a vision.
  • A passionate energy for great design and amplifying our team culture.

We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer focused on building a diverse and inclusive workforce. If you are excited about this role but do not meet 100% of the qualifications above, we encourage you to apply.
