The role:

Join our team as a Safe Routes to School (SRTS) administrative support! In this role, you will support the SRTS construction and education programs to maximize and strengthen efforts and partnerships while also supporting grantees. This is a limited duration appointment that is expected to end on or before January 1, 2026. Limited duration appointments are benefits eligible and have a designated maximum length of service. The limited duration appointment has the potential to become permanent.

We may also fill this position as a rotational assignment open to current State of Oregon employees in good standing (limited duration and temporary employees not eligible). Rotation candidates are required to meet the position’s minimum qualifications. Rotational assignments do not have the potential to become permanent without a separate competitive recruitment process. This opportunity will last until January 1, 2026, but the duration can change at any time depending on business needs. You must have your manager's and appointing authority’s approval before applying for this assignment.

A day in the life:

  • Develop, organize and deliver grantee orientations, education materials and resources as well as assisting with grant paperwork, reporting documents, reimbursement claims and more for the SRTS education and construction grantee programs.

  • Develop and update grant solicitation materials in compliance with SRTS federal and state regulations, and division laws, rules and polices.

  • Work with internal and external partners to collect data, evaluate and pinpoint areas of improvement, gaps and inefficiencies.

  • Coordinate with internal and external partners to promote program resources and services and identify overlaps or duplicative efforts between partner programs.

  • Provide assistance including but not limited to developing funding scenarios, proposals and presentations to SRTS advisory committee.

  • Work in an office environment with minimal travel required and hybrid work optional with at least 1 day per week in office required.

Minimum qualifications:

Any combination of experience or education equivalent to three years technical-level experience that typically supports the knowledge and skill requirements listed for the classification;

OR

A bachelor's degree in business or public administration, behavioral or social sciences, or a degree related to the agency program that demonstrates the capacity for the knowledge and skills.

Special qualifications:

Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.

  • Experience in developing and maintaining office forms, procedures, guidelines and notifications to staff and partner agencies.

  • Effective communication and writing skills as related to a reports, memos, invitations, agendas, meeting minutes, instructions, emails, etc.

  • Experience analyzing information and translating into an understandable and readable format to share to appropriate audiences.

  • Proven ability to work independently, schedule own work and meet production goals.

  • Rotation Option Details: Applies only to rotation candidates (current State of Oregon employees applying for this as a rotational assignment).

    • This opportunity is scheduled to last until 01/01/2026, but could change based on business needs.

    • Rotational candidates must meet the position's minimum qualifications to be considered. The successful candidate may be eligible for work out of class compensation within this classification's salary range.

    • You must be a current permanent State of Oregon employee in good standing (temporary and limited duration employees are not eligible) to apply.

    • Relocation will not be paid. Employee will return to their permanent position upon completion of this assignment. However, the assignment can be terminated at any time without prejudice by the sending manager, receiving manager and/or employee.
