Title: QA Technichian
Location: Nampa, ID
This position is for C shift - Thursday through Saturday and E/O Wednesday from 7:00am - 7:00pm.
Job Summary:
This position will have primary responsibility for coordinating and performing QA lab activities, including document review, inspection of product samples, microbiological testing, environmental swabbing, and periodic calibrations.
Job Responsibilities & Tasks:
· Coordinate daily QA lab activities to promote a successful team:
o Review production documentation, identifying and errors and driving resolution in a timely manner.
o Perform analytical testing (pH, sensory, brix, viscosity, microbiological, etc.) on retention and incubation samples.
o Perform and complete sensory testing.
o Serve as the Quality Department representative as necessary on the off shifts.
o Maintain the Document Wall by making copies and filling as needed.
o Perform daily Quality audits of the production areas.
o Manage the inventory consumable items for the quality department.
o Use good aseptic lab practices to prepare and plate microbiological samples.
· Participate in programs to support plant goals and continuous improvement:
o Provide guidance to the Production team for Recheck/Sorting activities to maximize efficiency.
o Maintain Quality department procedures and forms, ensuring they are up to date and accurate.
o Assist Quality Department in investigating food safety/quality incidents and completing non-compliant reports.
o Perform periodic calibrations of laboratory equipment.
o Update KPP (Key Process Parameter) boards and ensure that quality and production data is appropriately captured in the system.
o Assist with data entry and statistical trend analysis to drive continuous improvement.
o Coordinate lab sample processes with external laboratories.
o Back up the Hold/Release Specialist in performing ERP system (VIF) transactions.
o Seek opportunities to improve processes to enhance quality and share those ideas with the Quality Manager.
· Responsible to support a food safety and food quality culture
· Other duties as assigned, and willingness to be cross trained in other areas of Quality Assurance
Key Performance Indicator (KPI):
· Tracks Quality KPIs, including but not limited to:
o Documentation error rates
o Daily sensory completion
Position Requirements:
EDUCATION
· High School diploma or GED equivalent
EXPERIENCE
· Experience in a food manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
· Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred
· HACCP and GFSI Training preferred
SKILLS
· Must have experience with Excel and Word
· Advanced organizational skills and high attention to detail
· General math skills and basic statistics skills
· Knowledge of GMPs is strongly preferred
· Ability to communicate (verbal, read, write) effectively in English
PHYSICAL & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
· Must be able lift up to 40 lbs.
· Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety shoes and hearing protection.
· Must be able to work in normal office conditions
· Must be able to work a minimum of 12 hours per day and be on one’s feet for extended periods of time
