One of the newly created opportunities is Polyethylene Extruder/Finishing Operations Engineer (also known as Polyethylene Extruder/Finishing Operations Support Engineer internally) which will provide you with an opportunity to growth.

The Polyethylene Finishing and Logistics Operation Support Engineer is responsible for Technical Assurance within their area of responsibility.  In addition, provides proactive technical support to help ensure that their assigned process units and systems are operated in a safe, environmentally sound and efficient manner in accordance with established guidelines

More about our Facility:

In 2022, Shell completed construction of its 386-acre petrochemical complex in Potter Township, Beaver County - approximately 30 miles northwest of Pittsburgh. The project spanned nearly a decade in the making, with more than four years of construction activity involving approximately 9,500 workers at peak construction.

The plant, Shell Polymers Monaca, will produce an estimated 1.6 million tons of polyethylene pellets used by Shell's customers to create products that we see and use every day including - common household goods; consumer and food packaging; as well as industrial and utility products. Three polyethylene units will have a combined annual production of approximately 1.6 million metric tons (3.5 billion pounds).

Improving our PE reliability and Finishing performance is fundamental to achieving our business targets, making this role a key team member towards the long-term, sustainable success of our business.

Accountabilities:

  •  Deliver day-to-day technical support to Operations in the execution of production plans

  • Monitor the technical performance of the plants; provide guidance to operations on unit optimization, management of alarms and for provision of cost-effective technical solutions to constraints and emerging problems

  • Identify, plan and realize improvement opportunities proactively and in response to a changing business environment

  • Ensures the creation and approval of technical documentation to maintain knowledge retention, continuity, and support organizational learning

  • Support the process engineering Technical Assurance function for Management of Change (MOC) requirements within their designated area and offers technical guidelines for high-impact events like unit performance testing

  • Provide process engineering representation in PHAs and Incident Investigations within assigned area 

  • Support to long term strategy planning for the PE Finishing and Logistics units/systems

  • Provide support and leadership to multidiscipline teams addressing cross organizational issues and opportunities

  • Facilitates process team engagement with Shell P&T specialists, keeping them updated on major unit/system issues and progress in resolving them

  • Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of operational changes to enhance the performance of units/systems

  • Prepare and present the technical content of specialized Operator/Craft training

  • Implements unit monitoring protocols to ensure effective condition monitoring of assigned units

  • Identifying potential threats and opportunities consistently, translating them into timely investigations and improvement actions

  • Maintains daily focus on plant operations, ensuring work priorities align with operational and maintenance needs

  • Support production in delivering performance targets and ensuring effective alarm management at assigned process units

  • Gather month-end data and deliver performance reviews/analyses, including energy, variance analysis, and plan delivery

  • Maintain basic data and plant constraint information, and contribute to the development of monthly production plans

  • Support the implementation and maintenance of HSSE critical work processes

  • Support with design reviews, safety and risk assessments, and functional value analyses as needed

  • Ensure process engineering activities comply with Asset Integrity - Process Safety Management Standards and Recommended Practices

  • Collaborate with SGSI and external technical experts to deliver cost-effective and cutting-edge technical development and solutions for designated processing units

  • Support implementation of LEAN tactics on as and when needed basis

What we need from you

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, specializing in Chemical Engineer preferred

  • Minimum of 3 years in Polyethylene supporting plant operations

  • Experience in fluidization bed is required

  • Experience with design, operation, troubleshooting and repair of process equipment such as pumps, piping, valving is required

  • Experience with design, operation, troubleshooting and repair of additive feeders, solids handling, pneumatic conveying and polymers extrusion equipment is required

  • Experience in process automation control and PLC is a plus

  • Experience in using Elutriator/Separation and Hopper Design/Bulk Flow is a plus

The base salary range for this position is $122,000 - $182,000 per year.  Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.        

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave to birthing mothers, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.

Additionally, employees are eligible for disability leave for up to 52 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives.
