The Department

Located primarily in Merrimack, New Hampshire, Fidelity's Fixed Income Division is one of the country's leading fixed income managers with well over $1.7 trillion in fixed income assets managed by a staff of roughly 200 investment professionals. The Position

Fidelity is looking to hire a Municipal bond trader to join its Fixed Income Division. The trader will join our retail separately managed account (SMAs) investment team with a focus on municipal bonds. The position requires knowledge of fixed income investing and trading, significant quantitative and technical skills, an entrepreneurial approach to solving problems, a commitment to collaboration, and effective communication skills. Primary Responsibilities

  • Negotiate and execute trades on behalf of our portfolios, achieving best execution for clients
  • Collect, organize, and disseminate market and trading information to the investment team
  • Work closely with the SMA investment team (portfolio managers, analysts, and traders) to manage and execute municipal bond order flow
  • Leverage technology skills to find ways to scale the investment process and execution capabilities in the pursuit of contributing to alpha generation
  • Keep pace with the evolving market structure to refine our electronic trading approach, strategy, and tactics
  • Actively work alongside traders, quants, and developers in advancing our SMA systematic trading strategies and mechanics
  • Liaise with Technology, Compliance, Legal, Operations and other internal Fidelity partners to mitigate operational risk and drive process efficiency
  • Help define the business requirements for enterprise technology applications to be used by the trading team

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Finance, or other relevant quantitative subject area (Postgraduate degree a plus)
  • 5+ years of experience in fixed income investing/trading or proficiency implementing systematic trading strategies (municipal bond focus a plus)
  • Technical proficiency with Python, R, and SQL, a plus
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm for solving complex problems
  • Ability to work in team environment and be an adaptable self-starter
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Fidelity's working model blends the best of working offsite with maximizing time together in person to meet associate and business needs.
