Responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY:
Under supervision of qualified personnel, perform or assist with work related to the testing, refurbishing and certification of gas meters and regulation used for the regulating and measurement of the distribution of natural gas to the end user. Provide support for other meter shop duties meter reading and other work as may be assigned.
MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide departmental support for Meter Services performing in-test and out-test of gas meters for residential, commercial and industrial applications.
- Use of shop equipment including but not limited to: pallet trucks, fork lift, paint spray booth, industrial washing machine, meter proving apparatuses etc.
- Perform meter deliveries to outlying operation centers using rack body truck > 10,000 pounds.
- Provide back up support for meter reading, requires driving meter routes.
- Data entry required within SAP
Skills and Requirements
Education & Experience/Training Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent GED.
- Valid Driver's License
- Clean driving record
- Must be able to secure DOT Certification
- Must be able to secure certification for Forklift Operation
Skills/Abilities:
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective problem-solving skills with attention to detail and the analytical ability to evaluate complex data and apply good judgment to take appropriate follow up actions as needed while working witheft close supervision.
- Strong PC skills are required along with proficient knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel and Word applications and the ability to learn associated departmental business software.
- Must possess superior arithmetic skills and ability to use a calculator.
- Must have good organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
- Must be proficient with the use of handheld tools and power tools in a safe manner.
