Job Title: Mechanical Engineer V
Location: North Reading or Westborough MA
Rate: negotiable based on experience
Duration: 6 month contract
Position Description:
Were looking for an outstanding reliability and quality engineer who combines superb technical, analytical, and practical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Define reliability engineering baselines of complex robotic and automation products and systems and develop monitoring mechanisms to proactively identify quality and reliability risks. Provide network-wide health assessments and reliability predictions with correlations to product support-cost including maintenance and supply chain.
- Develop diagnostic capabilities for complex electromechanical systems including automation based diagnostics tools and knowledge base to support the network in identifying proper failure modes and causes of robotic and automation systems and products.
- Develop Reliability Test Plans for existing and in-design robotic and automation solutions.
- Develop structures and mechanisms to obtain field failure data across a portfolio of robotic solutions where data gathering is complex and unstructured.
- Lead failure investigations of robotic and automation systems at the system, product, and component level. Lead investigations across multiple stakeholder including the customer, field support, design teams, suppliers, commodity management. Drive to root cause identification, corrective actions and preventative actions.
- Develop Failure Modes and Effects Analysis.
- Partner with other engineering development teams to drive lessons learned into new product designs. Influence design releases and define requirements for releases of new robots across all phases of the product development lifecycle.
- Provide Design for Reliability, Maintainability and Supportability guidance to new robotic products and solutions teams.
- Communicate concisely verbally and in writing to leadership. Will be required to present monthly and quarterly failure and reliability reviews of their product portfolio to leadership.
- Develop mechanisms for prioritizing failure and reliability investigations.
- Develop Reliability Centered Maintenance procedures for robotic and automation systems and products. Identify areas for predictive maintenance.
- Identify systemic inefficiency, develop mechanisms, processes, tools, operating procedures to solve systemic inefficiency, and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the team and workflow.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams on projects where collaboration is critical for the success of the project. Able to independently propose reliability engineering projects, define scope, milestones, business impact, and engage cross functional teams for collaboration. Must be able to program manage a reliability engineering initiative independently.
- Independently identify ways to unblock themselves, find alternative paths when faced with obstacles, provide solutions and deliver results.
Required Skills:
- BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Computer Engineering
- 5+ years Hardware Quality Engineering experience
- Experience with quality tools and concepts including 8D, SPC, MSA, Six Sigma, FMEA
- Experience with Design for Manufacturability, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances, Measurement tooling and fixturing
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally – est travel 2-3 trips per year in US normally
- Proficiency with Minitab, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
- CQE, CRE or CSSBB
- Experience with ISO9000, IATF16949 or ISO13485 and quality systems auditing
- Proficiency with PTC Windchill Quality solutions, Reliasoft Synthesis platform tools, SQL, Agile PLM, MS Project, Visio, Tableau
