About the Position:
We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanic C in our Buffalo area with the ability to travel extensively to job sites within the National Grid territory, at a minimum hourly rate of $46.44. Job Responsibilities include:
- Operate a dump truck and trailer combo for load/unload/hauling heavy equipment or materials.
- Must be qualified to operate, with great proficiency, the most complicated types of civil construction equipment.
- Ability to work within close proximity to high voltage electrical lines. This will involve busting out concrete encased duct banks containing energized lines with the use of a jackhammer and PPE.
- Ability to work in confined spaces/manholes.
- Installation/removal of manhole roof, installation of new manholes and conduit banks, maintenance of any/all underground electrical infrastructure, delivering material and equipment.
- Respond to emergency calls during off hours which may require overnight stays and perform duties in adverse conditions.
- Ability to operate equipment in various environmental conditions in a transmission right of way.
- Perform manual labor or other duties in a civil construction environment as directed by supervision and operate in a team environment.
Job Qualifications:
- Need to possess an unrestricted Class B Driver's License with an air brake endorsement and a Medical Examiners Certificate required. If selected, individual must successfully obtain a valid Class A Drivers License within six (6) months.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience driving and operating civil construction equipment similar to equipment used by National Grid.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in the civil construction industry installing underground facilities similar to the ones used by National Grid. Must have extensive knowledge for working in safe excavations/shoring.
- Ability and willingness to respond to and clean up environmental spills.
- Ability to drive all types of vehicles and equipment in adverse conditions, in a safe manner.
- Ability and willingness to work different schedules, on holidays and weekends and overtime as required.
- Must successfully participate in an outside demonstration of job skills.
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a valid drivers license.
- Must pass pre-employment validated company test(s).
Salary:
- $46.44/Hr
