Master Mechanic is responsible for the mechanical maintenance of the Destrehan, LA soybean processing facility, including diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairment of equipment and instruments. Candidate must actively participate in Bunge's Employee Safety Policy and maintain a safe work environment for self and all employees. Additionally, this role is responsible for demonstrating a commitment to supply safe food, maintain a food safety culture within the site, continually improve the site's food safety management system and comply with customer and regulatory requirements.
Main Accountabilities
- Predictive and preventative maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, part replacement of plant equipment
- Laser alignment, ultrasonic, and lubrication
- Operating mobile equipment/heavy machinery
- Operation of various hand tools and power tools
- Using measurement devices, including calipers, pi tapes, micrometers
- Welding and cutting using a torch: tig, mig, and stick on piping and structural
- Rigging and using cables and slings
- Sheet metal layouts
- Assembly and installation of bearings on shafts
- Alignment of coupling between two inputs
- Follow written instructions for maintenance
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge and Technical Competencies
- Millwright/Mechanic experience, required
- Welding and cutting using a torch, required
- Written/Verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to work in a highly quality controlled environment
- Ability to work in a safety conscious environment
- Ability to maintain a good working relationship with other facility personnel
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent, preferred
- Associates degree and/or technical certification, preferred
- 3 years experience as mechanic or millwright, preferred
Work Schedule
- Overtime required as part of the normal schedule, call out availability, and an on-call rotation
