Innovation Analysts are responsible for defining technology needs, prioritizing them in the global planning process; analyzing, submitting, and approving new initiatives. Innovations Analysts lead efforts to define and manage technology solutions, project initiatives, business architectures, technology objectives and strategies, and represent these to business areas and IT leadership as needed.
The Costco Innovation team is focused on finding and developing new technologies to support our continued success. The Innovation Analysts key functions will include: technology discovery, intelligence, scouting, portfolio management, and market/competitor analysis. Additionally, they will work directly with the Innovation team to identify, research, evaluate, and pilot retail technologies/solutions and manage pilot projects from beginning to end. Lastly, the Innovation Analyst, will partner with key Costco teams to leverage their experience and knowledge to ideate, define, and deliver technological solutions throughout Costco.
This role requires a strong and broad knowledge of technology from multiple areas of a retail environment and the ability to quickly learn about new technologies to understand their value and fit. The Analyst will be called upon to think out of the box as we evaluate and shepherd innovation technology into our retail environment.

ROLE
● Develops planning documentation that establishes Costco IT's global direction including business and IT goals, strategies, and priorities.
● Develops and engages in modernization and transformation roadmap planning; identifying critical dependencies impacting countries, the business, and the IT division.
● Defines, captures, and validates requirements and other artifacts, ensuring appropriate stakeholders are involved.
● Analyzes customer needs and priorities and initiates delivery efforts.
● Contributes effectively in business transformation, change management, and overall governance of solution implementation.
● Tracks and assesses progress on projects and reports status on a continual basis to stakeholders.
● Identifies and resolves problems, often anticipating issues before they occur or before they grow; develops and evaluates options and implements solutions.
● Assists in the design and delivery of rapid end-to-end proof of concepts, prototypes, and production software and device solutions.
● Demonstrates Technology Innovation best practices and thought leadership.
● Leverages the latest technology innovations to constantly invent and simplify; raise the bar.
● Supports refinement of Costco’s emerging technology evaluation and prioritization processes.
● Tracks and assesses emerging technologies.
● Conducts and reports on market/competitor analysis.
● Evaluates high-potential technologies through demonstrations, prototypes, and proof of concept projects to validate fit for purpose; validates assumed business benefits, risks, and costs; and reduces technical uncertainty.
● Manages a portfolio of innovation opportunities, requests, and initiatives.
● Facilitates division wide Innovation initiatives.
● Develops/maintains executive reporting; encompassing all aspects of innovation for both IT and Business leadership.
● Develops and manages new supplier relationships relating to innovation projects.
● Networks with industry leaders.
REQUIRED
5 years of experience in technology analysis/solutions experience.
Strong technical aptitude and experience with technical solution development and delivery.
Creative; strategic thinker with an inquisitive mind towards new technologies and opportunities.
Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills with the ability to concisely and effectively communicate across teams.
Team player; friendly, communicative, open, honest, thoughtful, and committed. Works cooperatively with others, shares ideas, collaborates, and ultimately puts team goals first.
Possesses a demonstrated ability to work independently and with limited supervision including: Strong work ethic, demonstrated attention to detail, and excellent time-management skills.
Strong collaboration, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
Ability to travel as needed.
Recommended
Associates degree in Computer Science or related field of study or any combination or relevant equivalent experience, education, and training.
BA or BSA experience.
Strong knowledge of retail core business models, drivers, and philosophies.
Experience working on technology innovation projects with high degrees of ambiguity.
Process improvement skills; and demonstrated ability to effectively troubleshoot and provide solutions.
Proficient in Google Workspace applications, including Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Gmail.

Pay Ranges:
Level 3 - $115,000 - $145,000
Level 4 - $135,000 - $175,000
