GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Serving as an important member of The Met's Foundation and Government Giving team, you will directly contribute to strengthening, shaping, and growing The Met's foundation and government grants program, which serves all curatorial departments, exhibitions and publications, conservation, and audience engagement. You will be a dynamic storyteller, writing and editing correspondence and other communications, with a focus on curatorial, conservation, and exhibitions. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operations of foundation and government giving, becoming the all-seeing, all-knowing engine that propels this high-volume and collaborative team within Institutional Advancement.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of the Museum's strategic plan, mission, and vision, as well as the collection, special exhibitions, and programming, to effectively articulate The Met's priorities and fundraising objectives to donors and prospects.

  • Write and edit gift acknowledgements and other correspondence for the Foundation and Government Giving team, senior staff, and Museum leadership.

  • Play a key role in donor stewardship administration, which includes membership renewals, targeted communications, credit line review, guest list management, donor database input and record maintenance, participation in events, as well as scheduling and organizing meetings and follow-up.

  • Assist in compiling grant proposals and reports for both foundation and government entities; this will include assisting the team with various attachments and government grant administration, all with the highest level of attention to detail.

  • Conduct research and assist in the preparation of research material and giving histories for donor meetings.

  • Help guide and train interns.

  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA degree or equivalent experience required; Art History, Art Administration, or English degree preferred

  • One to three years of experience in Development or a related field, ideally in a non-profit context

  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills

  • Highly detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Ability to anticipate needs in a thoughtful and strategic way

  • Experience working in a high-volume Development Department, or other similar professional office

  • Thorough proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel

  • Experience with Tessitura or other major development database system preferred

  • Interest in the arts and a commitment to the Museum's mission

COMPENSATION RANGE:

  • Pay Range: $34.00 - $36.00 / Hourly

The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, education, special licensing or qualifications, and other factors.
