POSITION SUMMARY:
The Engineer must have strong Pro E/Creo design experience involving sheet metal, piping, wiring/cabling using a top-down assembly design method. The Design Engineer is a key cross functional project team member that will provide engineering support to all aspects of design to ensure achievement of project objectives. Designs and develops complex 3D models, large assembly, fabrication drawings utilizing PTC Creo 7.0 from concept development through final release. This individual will interface directly with R&D, Manufacturing and external vendors to resolve design and fabrication issues. Analyzes, researches, and designs components or a system of components to develop new products with ease of manufacturing and high quality in mind.
The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Creates designs for basic to moderately complex projects by analyzing product specifications, performance requirements, and existing manufacturing capabilities and applying engineering principals and established design tools.
- Design parts/assembly/fixture from scratch or sketches and with minimal instructions/directions.
- Familiarity with component manufacturing techniques including sheet metal bending, metal stamping, fabrication, and injection molding preferred
- Investigates pertinent design factors such as manufacturing capability, suitable materials, and interchangeability of components, cost, strength-weight efficiency, and Intellectual property.
- Lead/participate in design reviews and technical meetings with support from appropriate functional areas
- Develop conceptual layouts to capture product specification and function of assembly/component interface, size, location, and placement
- Prepares and reviews drawings for tooling and production release while ensuring accuracy, completeness, and conformity to standards, procedures, and specifications. Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions and improvements
- Proficient in Top Down Design (TDD) methodologies and applications of model-centric designs
- Ability to establish working relationships within cross-functional teams
- Ability to effectively control and manage files and data related to CAD.
- Consistently applies established engineering practices, standards, tools and documentation methods.
- Provide sustaining engineering support to existing products including VAVE, quality, and product improvements.
- Contributes to inventions, new designs or techniques
- Up to 10% possible international travel
- Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 3 years of product design experience in a team-based environment.
- Prefer engineering (Mechanical) degree and HVAC or related industry experience.
- Must have in-depth experience with ProE/Creo 3D CAD for design/manufacturing
- Experience in Creo modules for (Piping/Cabling/Surfacing/Sheet metal/Assembly modeling)
- Experience with Windchill 12.0 is strongly preferred.
- Structural Analysis experience is a plus (Ansys).
- Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills. Self-directed regarding project goals.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $68,000 and $93,500/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including commissions based on achieving individual performance and/or sales metrics, incentive compensation and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these additional compensation and benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
