Our Finance team ensure we are accountable and on track to company strategies. Their responsibilities include forecasting, in-season management, and analysis across business units. From sales and margin to operations and expenses, our Finance team provides consistent, accurate information to cross-functional partners to support PetSmart's growth initiatives.

Hybrid Position:
This position may be considered Hybrid based on PetSmart’s FlexSmart policy and business needs. A Hybrid work arrangement is considered to be a blend of onsite and remote work activity. Associates with a Hybrid work arrangement have a work space at Phoenix Home Office and can be required to come onsite between 3-5 days a week as determined by leadership and based on business needs.
About the Job
SUMMARY
This position will be responsible for timely and accurate completion of all month-end tasks as well as preparation of clear, concise, and timely reports and schedules for reconciliation of assigned general ledger accounts. The position will be required to evaluate general ledger activity; analyze errors and deficiencies in terms of impact to financial statements; perform reporting on an ad hoc basis; and work to improve the department’s processes and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage cost accounting for PetSmart proprietary brands
- Approve invoices related to inventory purchase orders
- Prepare monthly journal entries related to the accounting close
- Analyze general ledger activity for accuracy
- Identify necessary adjustments, prepare appropriate documentation
- Prepare monthly schedules and account analysis for assigned general ledger accounts
- Ensure accuracy of financial statements for internal and external reporting
- Analyze period over period fluctuations
- Work with auditors as appropriate to verify the adequacy of general ledger balances
- Perform ad hoc research reporting
- Assist in development of departmental process improvements
- Work on special projects as assigned by the Senior Manager of Corporate Accounting
- Perform testing of SAP sales postings
- Run all requested reporting for internal and external auditors
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- 1-3 years progressive work experience in Finance/Accounting
- Understanding of US GAAP
- Current Certified Public Accountant (or in process) a plus
