What You Will Do
To perform a wide variety of technical procedures with quality patient care, assisting cardiologists as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of formal invasive cardiovascular technology program
- Associate's Degree
- 2 Years experience as an Invasive Cardiovascular Technologist and electrophysiology
- Must have experience with EP, ablation, and transseptal procedure preparation including equipment, supplies.
- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - American Heart Association -PREFERRED
- IV Certification (NPTA Sterile Product Certification) - Various-Employee provides certificate -PREFERRED
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International -PREFERRED
Other Qualification Requirements
- NASPE certification preferred.
Essential Functions
- Assist with performing all Cath Lab procedures
Demonstrate ability to assume team role to monitor and/or circulate for all procedures.
Ability to document in MAC Lab Event Log to include correct patient identification.
Ability to interpret hemodynamic functions and take appropriate action when outside of normal values.
Ability to recognize emergency situation and take appropriate action.
Knowledge of all procedure supplies, locations and par levels.
Track and bill for appropriate supplies and equipment.
Ability to transition from routine diagnostic procedure to intervention. - Patient care
Follows patient's Advanced Directive.
Maintains strict patient confidentiality, keeps work discussion professional and limited to private areas.
Provides pre and post procedure education to patient and family.
Provides pre and post procedure education and reassurance to include but not limited to: What the procedure is, how long it is going to take, physician involved, contrast administration and mode of delivery, positioning, instructions related to procedure, the report, patient satisfaction form, etc.
Interacts and communicates in a manner to reflect an understanding of the patient's age, culture, state of health, level of comprehension.
Communicates and interacts with the patient's family in a way that is perceived positive and supportive while maintaining patient confidentiality.
Interact with nursing care departments to assure appropriate communication of patient care and status. - Quality assurance
Verifies patient identification and pregnancy status.
Follow National Patient Safety Goals.
Use of abbreviations.
Infection control/hand washing.
Alarm audits.
Patient identification.
Follow appropriate radiation safety practices.
Assists in procedures practicing sterile techniques.
Demonstrates knowledge of universal precautions.
