Job Summary

Department Summary

The University of Michigan's Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), a unit within Student Life, is a multidisciplinary and multi-theoretical university counseling center with over 45 licensed professional staff, 5 support staff, and over 15 advanced professionals in training. CAPS serves a diverse student body of over 50,000 students. CAPS provides culturally humble clinical services, outreach programming, and training opportunities. Approximately 5,000 students each year receive individual clinical services at CAPS.

Job Summary

CAPS is seeking applicants for adjunct counseling positions that would be located either in our Central office or at specific schools/colleges on our campus. This is an 8-month temporary, part-time or full-time appointment. Starting date and hours are negotiable.

Responsibilities*

Clinical

  • Individual counseling: 65%
  • Crisis intervention: 10%
  • Providing consultation to UM staff and faculty: 5%

Administrative

  • Clinical consultation and documentation 20%

Required Qualifications*

  • Master?s or Doctoral degree in Social Work
  • Licensed/license eligible in the State of Michigan
  • Clinical experience with a college student/young adult population is required.

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Position Criteria:

These are the criteria that the hiring team will be evaluating the candidate for:

  • Demonstrated competency and expertise in working clinically with college student/young adult populations.
  • Demonstrated multicultural competency/work with diversity and difference in current professional role or professional-in-training role.

Additional Information

This role may have reporting obligations under Title IX and Clery.

Authorization to work in the U.S. is a precondition of employment and applicants for this position will not be sponsored for work visas.  

Salary may vary depending on qualifications, experience, and education of the selected candidate.

Relocation will not be offered for this position.
