Job Description:
Berklee’s Division of Pre-College, Online, and Professional Programs (POPP) is seeking a Temporary Copy Editor and Data Entry Specialist who can support the development of K-12 music lessons. This work includes copy editing lesson content, aligning language to education and platform best practices, and following accessibility and brand guidelines. In working in Berklee’s POPP division, your role will primarily involve helping to ensure the accuracy, alignment, and accessibility of lesson content developed to support K-12 educators. This includes collaborating with a team of content, technology, and education experts in designing, documenting, and distributing online educational lessons that help support K-12 educators and students.Under the direction of the Assistant Vice President of Creative and Managing Director for Berklee Open, the Temporary Copy Editor and Data Entry Specialist reviews, edits, and updates pre-written lessons to ensure accuracy and alignment with Berklee POPP standards. This role is detail-oriented and responsible for following established workflows and editing best practices. This role is part-time, 100% remote, and has a flexible schedule based on need for approximately three months.
Capabilities Required (Experience, Education, Skills):
This position requires someone who is very well-organized, has excellent communication skills, and has a strong attention to detail.
Knowledgeable about copy editing and lesson planning, with experience aligning lesson plans to educational standards and learning objectives.
Data entry into LMS and CMS platforms with the ability to proof and update content as needed to align with overall lesson and platform goals.
Knowledge of digital accessibility and inclusion best practices for online learning.
Strong attention to detail with data entry and the ability to ensure language alignment throughout all lessons.
Ability to follow established guidelines and workflows and iterate and expand upon these workflows and documentation as needed.
Ability to document workflows and best practices, including contributing to the creation of editing and language guides.
Ability to work collaboratively and take feedback and direction.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and prioritize work with excellent efficiency and high quality.
Must be a self-starter who can work in a team-based, fast-paced atmosphere with high quality, accuracy, and innovation standards.
Action-oriented, “can do” attitude demonstrating willingness to accept accountability and responsibility for individual actions.
Knowledge of music-related terminology and/or music experience preferred.
Knowledge of UX design principles to support developing engaging lesson materials is preferred.
Use of Capabilities (Illustrated by Typical Activities)
Review and format lesson content to ensure consistency in language, voice, and tone.
Edit lesson content to ensure compliance with accessibility standards and best practices.
Enter reviewed and approved lesson content into a CMS platform and ensure it is displayed correctly and appears as expected.
Track and communicate project progress.
Quality assurance and attention to detail in creating and reviewing work.
