Your Role: Under general direction, consistently evaluates vehicle values and repair estimates to determine the economic reparability of vehicles. Completely prepares file for total loss settlement discussion. Contacts customers, negotiates and settles total loss claims. Writes physical damage estimates from photos to determine reparability. Handles 1st and 3rd party specialty claims in their entirety. 80% or more of the day is spent handling total losses, 20% or less of the day is spent writing/reviewing repair estimates.
We are currently hiring for this role in AZ, CA, CO, ID, OR, WA, and NV.
Your work:
• Determines relevant information to properly evaluate the market value of total loss vehicles, including identifying year, make, model, mileage, options, refurbishments, and condition of the vehicle.
• Complies with all regional laws and guidelines to calculate the settlement value of total loss vehicles.
• Completes break even analysis to determine repair threshold.
• Identifies potential fraudulent claims for referral to special investigation unit.
• Resolves claim coverage and limits issues.
• Prepares file for authority review with supervisor or manager.
• Assesses, negotiates and finalizes payment amounts up to settlement authority.
• Fully documents the claim file with all relevant documents, photos, and notes for settlement discussion.
• Negotiates and settles total loss claims with 1st and 3rd party claimants, lien holders, and attorneys.
• Arranges, manages and negotiates towing, storage and rental allowances with vendors and owners.
• Writes complex estimates from photographs using computerized estimating platform to determine extent of both related damage and unrelated prior damage.
• Investigates, evaluates, negotiates, and settles total theft and fire claims from start to finish.
• Investigates, evaluates, negotiates, and settles claims involving specialty vehicles from start to finish including complex liability determination.
• Takes first notice calls and enters claims into claims administrative system.
• Contacts customers and vendors to determine the best method of resolution. Schedules inspections and repairs accordingly
• Work a shift between core business hours of 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Pacific Time
Required Experience, Education and Skills
• Adjuster's license, or must obtain license after hire.
• Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
• Basic math and moderate computer skills with technical ability to utilize a variety of software applications.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Ability to work in a flexible, changing environment.
• Possesses technical knowledge and ability to successfully progress through job family levels, including total loss valuation, total loss settlement, physical damage estimating, and claim ownership.
• Ability to work independently, be self-motivated and goal-oriented.
• High school Diploma/GED or equivalent experience required.
• 5 more years of property and casualty claims experience required.
