The Client is seeking a hands-on, experienced, and highly self-sufficientSenior Desktop Support Engineerto join our IT Services team. This is an opportunity to contribute directly to cutting-edge scientific research by providing exceptional technical support to a diverse user base, including laboratory researchers, operations staff, senior leadership, and external collaborators from prestigious institutions.

Your Impact

As a Senior Desktop Engineer, you will:

  • Provide Exceptional Support: Deliver white-glove service to VIPs and senior leadership, addressing a wide range of complex IT needs quickly and effectively through Slack, Zendesk, Jira service desk phone, or in person.
  • Lead Deployments: Oversee the procurement, deployment, upgrade, and maintenance of hardware and software, ensuring seamless functionality across MacOS, iOS, and Windows platforms.
  • Enhance AV Systems: Assist with the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of audio-visual systems in conference rooms, maintaining high-quality standards for AV control systems.
  • Drive Projects: Collaborate on IT projects focused on automation, endpoint management, and process improvement, ensuring technology aligns with the needs of cutting-edge scientific research.
  • Support Lab Systems: Partner with researchers to maintain specialized lab systems and equipment, troubleshooting unique technical challenges with precision.
  • Maintain Security: Uphold IT security best practices, including endpoint management and compliance with institutional protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure, test, and deploy workplace technology using industry-standard tools.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot technical issues, and support cloud-based productivity tools like Google Workspace, Slack, and Zoom.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex IT issues across office and laboratory environments, escalating where appropriate.
  • Maintain and improve conference room AV systems and ensure consistent user experiences.
  • Assist in maintaining directory systems (Active Directory), SSO tools (Okta), and endpoint management systems (e.g., Kandji, Intune).
  • Support networking infrastructure, including local and VPN connectivity.

What You Bring

Essential Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years in IT support roles, including handling ITSM systems like Zendesk, Jira Service Desk, and providing VIP-level service to senior leadership.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in supporting MacOS, iOS, Windows endpoints, and AV systems in diverse environments.
  • Lab Systems: Familiarity with laboratory IT environments and vendor-specific lab systems.
  • Networking Knowledge: Solid understanding of networking principles, troubleshooting, and VPN configurations.
  • Tools Mastery: Expertise in endpoint management platforms (e.g., Kandji, MS Intune), Google Workspace, and communications tools like Slack and Zoom.
  • Security Awareness: Knowledge of IT security fundamentals, including MFA, endpoint protection, and phishing prevention.
