Volt is immediately hiring for Safety Specialist in Santa Fe Springs, CA.

As a Safety Specialist you will:

  • Review, update and implement programs, policies and procedures to achieve compliance with environmental, health, safety, fire safety and security regulations.
  • Review, and update all occupational health and safety training programs to provide specific instruction with respect to hazards specific to each employee's job assignment, and general safety instruction, in compliance with the company's Injury and Illness Prevention Program requirements. Conduct any specialized training as needed.
  • Review and update the Hazard Communication Program. Ensure that accurate, current Safety Data Sheets are on file and readily available for all hazardous materials in the facility.
  • Ensure required monthly safety training occurs on a timely basis. Assist EHS Manager and line supervisors by preparing materials and providing guidance as needed.
  • Conduct new hire and/or transfer employees (including agency temps) classroom safety orientation training.
  • Maintain all environmental, Health and Safety training records current and organized.
  • Assist EHS Manager with ensuring compliance on Lockout/Tagout and Confined Space Programs.
  • Regularly keep informed/updated about State and Federal safety or environmental related laws, rules, and regulations affecting the work place.
  • Assist EHS Manager with implementation and coordination of programs to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries.
  • Compile and report statistical data to EHS Manager related to safety and security issues. Assist EHS Manager in conducting detailed investigations on all work-related accidents/injuries and provide the necessary information to the insurance carrier and company management.
  • Assist EHS Manager with developing, updating and maintaining the company's safety incentive program. Planning and coordinating of safety celebrations, events or other activities.
  • Help lead the monthly safety inspections effort. Notify management and EHS Manager of any necessary corrective actions. Maintain inspection records, and input safety notifications into the SAP system for proper tracking.
  • Assist EHS Manager when needed in conducting and/or being the chairperson of the monthly safety committee meetings; as well as preparing and distributing written minutes timely.
  • Recommends changes to work conditions and procedures to improve the work environment and comply with all health and safety regulations.


This is a Full time opportunity.



The ideal Safety Specialist candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in related course work preferred or 1-2 years proven industrial safety experience.
  • Proficient knowledge of Cal/OSHA General Industry Safety Orders and accident prevention programs.
  • Ability to create training materials utilizing various multi-media.
  • Proficient computer experience (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Well organized, detail-oriented.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a must (able to read, write, and speak fluently in both languages).


Pay Rate: <$25.00 hour>



First shift : Monday to Friday 7:30 to 4 pm



About an hour of daily overtime available



*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
