Position Summary:
The RT Ventilator Clinician is a Respiratory Therapist providing respiratory patient care virtually and over the phone for Vent patients for optimal outcomes. This position will be responsible for maintaining accurate clinical records and completing virtual assessments. The position may include identifying patient exceptions that need additional review and consultation based on criteria/compliance. This position will provide ongoing education and care to the patient and/or caregivers and report recommendations back to the branch location, who corresponds with the referral or physician. Additionally, this position collaborates with multidisciplinary teams across the organization to ensure extraordinary care to the patient and referral source.
Requirements:Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:
- Uses clinical expertise in evaluating both invasive and non-invasive ventilator patients in a virtual setting.
- Ability to demonstrate and instruct on use of ventilator units and supplies. Ability to make decisions for patients based on compliance data and assessment.
- Maintains accurate clinical records within the patient management and monitoring programs.
- Ensures ventilator patient follow ups are scheduled and completed within the designated timeframes.
- Ensures accuracy of prescriptions and plan of care is followed and documented. Also reviews delivery tickets, home inspection, ventilator checks, and patient equipment competencies are complete and documented.
- Maintains proficient knowledge of all types of ventilators dispensed by AdaptHealth.
- Maintains proficient knowledge of ventilator compliance software, new technology, and supplies supported by AdaptHealth.
- Facilitates communications and recommendations to team, physicians and referral sources ensuring prompt attention to patient care issues.
- Maintains working knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and other third-party payer guidelines related to ventilation.
- Electronically documents patient care activity, intervention provided and all communication regarding the patient. The documentation is accurate, complete and follows company standards.
- Appropriate steps taken to ensure recommendations and orders sent are acknowledged and followed up in a timely manner.
- Responsible for accuracy, clarity, and timeliness of verbal and written communications as it relates to role.
- Responsible for documentation that supports data collection to track and trend outcomes.
- Assists in establishing clinical documentation when needed for third party reimbursement or justification.
- Uses knowledge in working with referral sources to educate about best practice standards.
- Works collaboratively and pro-actively with peers and other team members to resolve issues and assure optimum outcomes for patients, referral sources and staff.
- Acts as a resource on practices and processes to provide appropriate guidance.
- Develop and maintain working knowledge of current HME products and services offered by the company.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and function within the guidelines of HIPAA.
- Completes assigned compliance training and other educational programs as required.
- Maintains compliance with AdaptHealth's Compliance Program.
- Perform other related duties as assigned during and outside of normal business hours as needed.

Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Must be graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program.
- Valid and unrestricted RT clinical license in state of residence, with the ability to obtain licenses in other states as required.
- One (1) year of clinical experience as a Health Care respiratory therapist. Must have strong experience with vent patients.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- The work environment will be stressful at times, as overall office activities and work levels fluctuate.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, stretch, stand, and sit for extended periods of time.
- Subject to long periods of sitting and exposure to computer screen.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions of wrists, hands, and/or fingers due to extensive computer use.
- Must be able to lift 5 to 10 pounds periodically as needed.
- Excellent ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written with customers with the ability to demonstrate empathy, compassion, courtesy, and respect for privacy.
- Mental alertness to perform the essential functions of position.
- May be exposed to angry or irate customers or patients.
- Ability to work outside of normal business hours.
- Physical and mental ability to provide clinical assessments.
