A Brief Overview
Facilitate and enhance the working environment for the Radiologists by improving workflow to increase efficiency and productivity. Effectively communicate critical test results to referring physicians and healthcare providers. Enhance patient safety and flow by assisting the Radiologist in managing patient information and priority.
What you will do
- 1. SYSTEMS SUPPORT AND DATA ENTRY
- Assist Radiologists in all aspects needed to enhance productive workflow
- Proficiently utilize multiple IT and Radiology-centric computer systems
- Monitor system dashboard for critical result reports and facilitate doctor to doctor communication. Must be able to accurately convey report information to healthcare providers. Accurate documentation of interactions must be kept. Timeliness of task completion is critical
- Accurately upload outside facility images and reports from into Radiology PACS system with appropriate and accurate order information for interpretation by Radiologist
- Provide customers with images, in film or CD format when requested acquiring all necessary consents and form completion
- Monitor DVD Burners performance and troubleshoot/replenish CDs and CD label ribbons when necessary for efficient disk printing
- AMBRA & Powershare troubleshooting for any electronic image transfer requests from customer/provider
- Utilize the Primordial system for outside order changes and Patch In requests from radiologists
- Investigate causes of problem radiology studies and works to resolve issues with PACS personnel
- 2. COMMUNICATION
- Relays accurate patient imaging report information to appropriate personnel to include PPL, referring physicians, emergency department etc.
- Reporting critical results in an efficient and effective manner to expedite safe patient care and provide written documentation of communication to the Radiologist(s)
- Managing historical images by requesting from offsite storage and digitizing films to CHOP PACS systems
- Establish and maintain positive relationship with customers allowing for effective transfer of information
- Fulfill requests from healthcare providers for patient reports. All PHI and HIPAA policies and procedures must be understood and followed
- Manage high call volumes outbound and inbound call via desk phone and ASCOM
- Serve as telephone triage liaison for incoming calls to radiologists and transfers to the appropriate service individuals
- Process high volume image importation requests via email, phone inquiry, fax and on site via dual systems AMBRA and EPIC
- Contact outside hospitals for e-Share of images via Life Image or Powershare for ED Transport arrivals
- E-Share images with families/clinicians providing system access
- Maintain legal and transport logs for effective cross-departmental communication
- Coordinate high volume internal and external image retrieval
- Daily fax exam results for Non-CHOP referring Providers
- Serve as Main Reading Room liaison for all incoming staff
- 3. LEADERSHIP- I-CARE

- 4. SAFETY
- Maintain safety programs within the department/division. Help develop, implement, monitor, and manage safety programs, policies, and procedures; including, but not limited to, those related to safety regulations and organizational policies
- Evaluate procedures, facilities and equipment to identify unsafe conditions that need improvement. Ensure safety concerns are reported appropriately
- Monitor Hill Rom emergency monitoring system, announcing and directing emergency personal to facilitate fast response
- Maintain clean and clutter-free work environment in all Radiology Reading Rooms
- 5. RESEARCH AND EDUCATION ASSISTANCE
- De-identify images for research projects
- Prepare conference room for scheduled conferences to include
- o Retrieving all requested images
- o Prepare web conference for satellite facilities and affiliated hospitals
- 6. CUSTOMER SERVICE - RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
- Maintain/manage strong working relationships with clients, colleagues, and other key stakeholders
- Respond to requests quickly and effectively
- Identify and understand customer needs and expectations and meets them
- Communicate any relevant information to clients, colleagues, and other key stakeholders
- Manage hospital/outside legal request for radiology records by supplying inventory list and disks of studies on file
- Process disc requests for multiple CHOP sites
Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED Required
- Associate's Degree Preferred
Experience Qualifications
- At least one (1) year hospital, medical office or related experience Required
Skills and Abilities
- Strong customer service skills and a thorough understanding of medical terminology (Required proficiency)
- Good verbal and communication skills; accurate documentation skills; ability to read and correctly pronounce medical terminology; must have excellent phone etiquette
- Must have good computer skills to understand, navigate, and enter data on multiple IT systems and Radiology-centric systems
- Must be able to multitask and handle acute, stressful and busy periods
- Task completion with accuracy is critical
- Ability to work with stressful situations
- Ability to function efficiently and professionally with a minimum of supervision
- Ability to quickly learn new procedures
