What you will do
- Reviews daily schedules to determine necessary equipment and supplies needed for patient care within the specified Radiology modality.
- Consults Radiology Team Leader and staff to determine the daily operational needs for procedures and patient care.
- Procedural room setup and turnover.
- Maintain daily supplies and stock in exam rooms and par levels in supply closets.
- Ensures that all emergency and specialized equipment (patient monitors) are checked daily.
- Conducts self in a professional manner
- Subject to on call, weekends and holiday hours
- Always maintains identifiable/professional attire, including using nametags and ID cards.
- Answers telephone calls within three rings.
- Respects confidentiality of patients and co-workers in all circumstances 100% of the time.
- Greets patients, families, co-workers and others in a calm, professional, friendly manner; makes eye contact, initiates conversation, and identifies self by name.
- Demonstrates knowledge and application of CHOP and department policies and procedures.
- Reviews policy and procedure updates from managers and CHOP
- Reports any incident that seems unusual/deficient to supervisor and/or Security.
- Corrects and/or reports unsafe, unsecured or unclean environment to supervisor and/or Environmental, Health and Safety, or Facilities departments.
- Keeps self and work area neat and organized.
- Participates collaboratively in staff meetings, committees, projects and teams to resolve conflicts and meet institutional goals.
- Reviews and contributes to the attainment of departmental and CHOP goals annually.
- Demonstrates knowledge of constant quality improvement values and participates in CHOP and departmental Quality Improvement initiatives
- Documents and reports all necessary education and training.
- Reviews learning needs with supervisor to set individual education and learning goals annually.
- Follows CHOP and departmental cost control standards: monitors usage of supplies
- Other duties as assigned by modality or department leadership.
- Specified responsibilities for the Interventional Radiology Department
- Ensures that all emergency and specialized equipment are checked daily.
- Scan Procedural Consent Forms into the Epic System.
- Follows Institutional Clinical Laboratory Protocols and Standards for Specimen Handling and Blood Products.
- Operate and maintain PAR Excellence Scanning System for supplies, surgical instruments, and any related equipment used in the IR Department.
- Setup and turnover procedural rooms according to the divisional/hospital standards determined by Radiology leadership.
- Specified responsibilities for the MRI Department.
- Supports MR Safety by being present in the assigned MRI Zone 3 control room. Monitor staff, patient and visitor entrance into Zone 3 and complete established screening process in advance of granting access to MRI Zone 4. Ensure that there is a handoff of this responsibility to another Core Tech or MRI Technologist when leaving the area for other patient care tasks, breaks or at the end of the shift.
- Set-up, operate and maintain equipment needed for exams.
- Greets patient and family upon arrival and reviews MRI screening form. Contacts MRI technologist for follow up and patient clearance as needed.
- Stock rooms and maintain supply levels.
- Positions patient as required.
- Collects information by interview from patient, family and healthcare providers for technologist to perform final MRI safety screening
- Specified responsibilities for the CT Department
- Ensures that all emergency and specialized equipment are checked daily.
- Set up and turnover scan rooms according to department and hospital standards.
- Greet and prepare patient for imaging exam.
- Answer telephone calls and relay messages as necessary to technologist.
Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED Required
Experience Qualifications
- Pediatric experience Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross). - upon hire - Required
Skills and Abilities
- Basic knowledge of Radiology Information Systems (Preferred proficiency)
- Provides Family Centered Care (Required proficiency)
- Ability to work independent of supervision (Required proficiency)
- Basic organizational skills (Required proficiency)
- Basic phone etiquette and communication skills (Required proficiency)
- Able to handle multiple tasks (Required proficiency)
- Must learn MRI Safety (Required proficiency)
- Minimum of 1 year of health-related experience is (Preferred proficiency)
- EPIC experience preferred (Preferred proficiency)
