The Opportunity
BAE Systems is seeking a Summer 2025 Quality Assurance Software Engineer Intern with a focus on data validation. Join our Strategic Systems Programs Alterations/Configuration Management Team within our Information & Configuration Management Program Area and become a member of a highly productive team, where each employee has the opportunity to grow their skills and work on rewarding projects. The focus of this position will be data validation after the migration of data from our SPALT Data System to our product lifecycle management platform in support of the US Navy's Strategic Systems Programs (SSP)-a program that keeps our nation safe with a credible sea-based nuclear deterrent. The selected candidate will perform the following functions working closely with interdisciplinary teams comprising management and engineers in support of the:

Developing, modifying, applying, and maintaining standards for software systems quality operating methods, processes, and procedures
Conducting evaluation of software systems activities including requirements, design, development, documentation, integration, test, verification and validation
Defining measures to ensure product quality
Developing overall operating criteria to ensure implementation of the software quality program according to project, process and contract requirements and objectives

About the Program
Our organization has supported SSP continually since the program's inception in the 1950s. SSP developed the first sea-based, underwater-launched Strategic Weapon System (SWS), a defense system that is truly critical to our national security. For more than six decades, SSP has maintained and upgraded this weapon system, and we have been there every step of the way. The sea-based SWS is the ultimate stealthy weapon system and is the first leg of the U.S. nuclear triad. With over 70% of our nation's nuclear arsenal its importance to maintaining world peace cannot be overstated. The development of the COLUMBIA class, the most advanced nuclear-powered, nuclear-armed submarine ever designed, as well the next D5LE2 weapon system is under way and will begin to be rolled out over the next decade. The US Navy projects that this system will be operational through 2084, meaning the program will have a total life span of more than 120 years. This is a truly unique program and BAE Systems employees on this program understand they are part of an important legacy.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Enrolled student at an accredited 4-year college / university having completed a minimum of two years (Sophomore) towards a Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Data Engineering, Information Science, or other related degree
Basic knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a relevant field of specialization
Understanding of basic data verification and validation principles
Experience with programming and scripting languages (e.g., Javascript and SQL)
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Word, Teams, etc.)
Ability to work well with cross-functional teams
Excellent attention to detail
Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively with others
Strong planning, organizational, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated self-starter with organizational, planning, and follow-up skills
Ability to interact with and effectively present information to peers and management

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Experience with the Navy SSP or TRIDENT program
Experience with Windchill/PLM tools
Currently holds a security clearance
Experienced with or able to learn how to navigate SharePoint and Jira system

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $48620 - $67640

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20+ hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
