Job Description for Project Support Specialist
JOB SUMMARY
This position is in support of the Northeast Regional Defense Technology Hub (NORDTECH), a Microelectronics Commons funded innovation hub. As a distributed network of fabrication facilities and innovation partners, a key component of the NORDTECH program is to build and strengthen the semiconductor ecosystem in New York, the Northeast, and across the country.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Supporting the Technical Director's efforts around Microelectronics Commons prototype project calls, hub-level proof-of-concept projects, and external proposal development.
- Administering, monitoring, and supporting NORDTECH project teams with electronic design automation (EDA) software, and cloud compute infrastructure.
- Work with the NORDTECH Advisory Committees and will help coordinate NORDTECH technical working groups, road mapping, and events.
- This position will require up to 25% travel, primarily within New York State and the Northeast Region.
Requirements:
Minimum Requirements for Project Support Specialist
- Bachelor of science in physics, electrical engineering, or other related physical science/engineering field from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization AND a minimum of 5 years of experience in the microelectronics industry.
- OR Master of science in physics, electrical engineering, or other related physical science/engineering field from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization AND a minimum of 3 years of experience in the microelectronics industry.
- Experience working with engineers, technicians, and support staff, as well as customers/end users.
- Excellent ability to work and problem solve independently.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with diverse groups of people.
This position is contingent on the satisfactory completion of a background check; this position may require annual background checks.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS for Project Support Specialist
- PhD in physics, electrical engineering, or other related physical science/engineering field from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization related to microelectronics AND 2 years of experience in the microelectronics industry.
Experience with one or more of the following:
- Hands-on processing in university-based "nanofab" facilities.
- Electronic design automation, chip design, and/or device simulation.
- Exposure to academia, government entities, and/or consortia.
- Familiarity with the microelectronics technical areas supported by NORDTECH: Quantum, AI Hardware, Secure Edge, Commercial Leap Ahead (Power Electronics, Magnetics).

Salary Range: $100,000-$120,000
*Posted salary ranges are determined upon experience and education.
