Immediate opening for a Design Systems Designer.
We’re looking for candidates who have direct experience building or maintaining a design system for a web or native app. Designer must be clearly interested in designing and building the granular details of product design, including creating components, writing usage documentation for variants and properties of components, challenging token naming schema, etc.
The Design Systems Designer will help build and maintain a design system that fosters consistency, efficiency, and design excellence. Creating and refining UI components and patterns, creating documentation and resources to improve design system usage and promote best practices, and collaborating closely with product teams to increase consistency in the user experience and enable more efficient design decisions.
Please note, that this is a freelance role with the possibility to turn permanent. Remote during the freelance period but must be able to work hybrid/onsite in either Los Angeles or NYC if hired permanently.

What you’ll do:
- Contribute to the growth and maintenance of our Figma component and variable libraries, ensuring they are high-quality, up-to-date, and aligned with our design system standards
- Partner closely with design system engineers on the design and implementation of design system components and foundations
- Collaborate with product teams to design and refine components for web and native apps, ensuring they meet product needs and design system guidelines
- Actively support product teams by providing feedback, guidance, and education on using design system components and patterns effectively
- Create and maintain design system documentation, ensuring accuracy and discoverability
- Understand gaps and opportunities in the design system, contribute to the vision, and pursue investment areas to ensure the effectiveness and relevancy of the design system over time
What you’ve done:
- 2+ years of professional experience as a product or visual designer, including hands-on, collaborative experience building or maintaining a design system for web or mobile apps
- Expertise in Figma, including a strong ability to execute design work at a high level of craft and accuracy
- Portfolio showcasing attention to detail, collaborative work, and strong visual design
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, iterative product development process
- Bachelor’s degree in HCI, Interaction Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $60.00 to $65.00 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
