Job description:Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer ensures the release, maintenance, and continuous improvement of effective manufacturing processes. This role integrates assembly, inspection and test elements into lean, error-free process designs. As a pilot run leader for new product development, the Manufacturing Engineer collaborates with the design team to optimize manufacturability and leads ongoing process improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Production and Quality to complete non-standard product work orders with efficient assembly procedures and integrated test and inspection steps.
- Participate on new product development teams, ensuring the product design ease of assembly and test early on, then ensuring all assembly, test and inspection steps are integrated to a smooth, lean process end-to-end.
- Serve as a pilot run leader for each new product release, ensuring all issues are identified, documented and communicated to project leader and management.
- Identify and implement manufacturing process improvement opportunities, collaborating with various departments.
- Troubleshoot production problems related to equipment or process/documentation failures, identifying and completing corrective actions. Interact with external reps or customers on manufacturing-related SCARS or FAs, as assigned by QA.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing process design for electro-mechanical assembly and test operations in a low volume/high mix job shop environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
Desired Qualifications:
- LEAN/5S training.
- Macola experience.
- Creative ability, independent judgment, and documentation skills necessary to perform job accurately and on schedule.
- Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills both oral and written.
- Ability to work alone or as a team member.
