Full Job Description

We are looking for a Sanitation Manager to join our Food Safety Quality & Regulatory Affairs team in either Chicago, IL or Omaha, NE. You will travel approximately 70% of the time to assigned facilities. This is not a remote role. You will be onsite at one of the corporate locations when you are not traveling.

As the Sanitation Manager, reporting to the Sanitation Director, you will oversee the enterprise's sanitation and pest control operations as part of the Consumer Foods Sanitation team. Additionally, you will manage the corporate plant sanitation support function.

What you'll do in this role:

  • Support plant sanitation by using chemicals, Clean-Out-of-Place (COP) and Clean-In-Place (CIP) cleaning processes, dry sanitation methods, environmental sanitation, and sanitary design principles.

  • Implement programs for sanitation assurance, manage pest control, and ensure compliance with platform regulatory standards.

  • Establish standards for maintaining CIP equipment, Sanitation Assurance, Preventive Maintenance (PM) for sanitation, continuous improvements, and cost optimization programs.

  • Oversee the reduction of sanitation cycle times, validation of extended cleaning requests, reduction of sanitation chemical costs, and the integration of sanitation assurance and effectiveness programs.

  • Investigate sanitation issues leading to product contamination, diminished shelf-life, or customer rejection of products, and troubleshoot these issues.

  • Collaborate with third-party providers and others to enhance technical expertise, improve supplier products, information, and equipment, research new cleaning technologies and methods, and coordinate trials.

  • Be the design authority and work with other support departments on all Enterprise-driven engineering projects to ensure sanitary design goals are achieved.

  • Conduct Enterprise-wide training for plant sanitation leaders to embed sanitation as a core aspect of the business.

  • Offer recommendations for changes in equipment and machinery.

  • Observe process workflow, equipment operations, and that sanitation guidelines are being followed at the manufacturing sites.

  • Champion a positive food safety culture, takes ownership, and empowers others to take immediate action on matters concerning food safety.

  • There are no direct reports for this role.

What you'll need to be successful:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent sanitation certifications and years of experience.

  • 5+ years of food industrial experience in food sanitation

  • FDA, USDA, HACCP, Pest Control and experience with government regulatory requirements in the processing of food

  • Experience with sanitary design, sanitation and pest management in food processing.

  • Excellent knowledge of food manufacturing processes and food safety

  • Advanced knowledge in using a full range of statistical and analytical tools and fundamentals

  • Understanding of microbiological organisms and their impact on process design, sanitary design and sanitation.

  • We require applicants for this role to be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship either now or in the future

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting, walking and standing for 8+ hours a day.

  • Climbing stairs or ladders

  • Push/pull plant materials and equipment.

  • Maneuver in cramped/confined spaces.

  • Exposure to manufacturing environments for 8+ hours per workday including loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, slippery conditions, dirt, fumes, smoke, smells and all food allergens.

  • Frequent bending, crawling and ability to move safely and freely around machinery.

  • Travel will be approximately 70%, independently and as a responsible company representative.

Compensation:

Pay Range:$104,000-$152,000

The annual salary listed above is the expected offering for this position. An employee's actual annual salary will be based on but not limited to: location, relevant experience/level and skillset, while balancing internal Conagra employees' equity.Conagra Brands will comply with applicable law regarding minimum salaries for exempt employees.
