PURPOSE: 
The Lead Financial Analyst oversees monthly financial reviews, forecasting, budgeting, and creation of presentations related to Shared Service and Indirect Shared Service costs (Allocations).  Champions fair and equitable driver methodologies, works to understand services provided, investigates cost swings, analyzes G/L data, questions potential errors/red flags, documents findings, leads resolution efforts where necessary, and shares findings with leadership.  Interfaces regularly with CareFirst Finance, Business Owners, project managers, and business area directors.  Supports large and/or complex projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Plans and produces various financial reports. Analyzes trends, calculates and verifies data. Interfaces with other areas to develop reporting specifications, methods and procedures, and prioritizes requests. Recommends, implements and documents changes to accounting workflow and controls when appropriate. Ensuring proper cost allocations in accordance with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) Medical Loss Ratio (MLR) tracking and reporting requirements.
• Develops, coordinates, analyzes and verifies data and financial reports to produce the financial Plan for all areas of the Company. Creates and manages a database for Plan reporting. Develops specifications needed to generate statistics, develops methods and procedures for calculating data and presenting results.
• Responds to manager, director, and executive inquiries, handles special requests, researches complex accounting issues. Communicate with corporate management on accounting/financial processes and regulatory requirements. Prepare financial data for presentation to upper management.
• Assists in the evaluation and recommendation of accounting software applications (i.e., cost accounting, time reporting, etc.) Coordinates, reviews and analyzes major financial report submissions to ensure corporate compliance with applicable regulations, laws or guidelines. Gathers, compiles and interprets information collected through financial analyses in order to identify trends and provide insight for decision making.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Position does not have direct reports but is expected to assist in guiding and mentoring less experienced staff. May lead a team of matrixed resources.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, related field or equivalent technical training OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

Licenses/Certifications Upon Hire Preferred:

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) 

Experience: 8 years demonstrated progressively responsible work experience in finance accounting or quantitative analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong Excel, Analytical, and system skills.  
• Strong working knowledge of accounting and financial systems, GAAP, Microsoft Office 365.   
• Experience and working knowledge of Shared Services, accounting allocations, allocation drivers and methodologies.   

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

• Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
• Proficient with financial analysis software (i.e., Delphi Technology, Oracle E-Business Suite Financials, Longview).
• Proficient with database entry and query software.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
• Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers, within set expectations for service excellence. 
• Must be able to effectively communicate and provide positive customer service to every internal and external customer, including customers who may be demanding or otherwise challenging.

  Salary Range: $78,768 - $156,442
