IT Business Consultant (Oracle HCM)
This position is Hybrid, working 2 days / week in office at Sally Beauty Support Center.

Essential Function
Performs functional analysis, requirements definition and Oracle HCM module configuration and testing. Responsible for conducting prototype discussions, developing functional specifications, data mapping, function mapping, setting of configuration tables and setting of transaction/control tables. Has a thorough understanding of the business processes and flows to enable the analysis of business requirements and development of solutions for the business functions. Serves as a liaison between the business community and the IT organization in order to provide technical solutions to meet user needs. Possesses expertise in the business unit(s) they support, as well as an understanding of the IT organization's systems and capabilities. Designs, delivers, and maintains high-quality business solutions.
Primary Duties
- 20% ANALYZES NEEDS: Analyzes business partner's operations to understand their strengths and weaknesses to determine opportunities to automate processes and functions. Assist in the business process redesign and documentation as needed for new technology. May operate across several different customer departments at one time. Responsible for the identification of and resolution of gaps in the business processes. Collaborates with IT and business stakeholders to design solutions.
- 40% TRANSLATES REQUIREMENTS: Translates high-level business requirements into functional specifications for the IT organization and manages changes to such specifications. Works on highly complex projects across multiple systems.
- 10% IDENTIFIES SOLUTIONS: Possesses an understanding of technological trends and uses this knowledge to bring solutions to business units supported to enhance the enterprise's competitive edge. Assists with the identification of solutions for the business units; may lead build vs. buy decisions. Has expertise in specific ERP solutions that is relevant to the business and uses this expertise to ensure business solutions are functional and meets requirements.
- 10% ASSIST WITH IMPLEMENTATIONS: May lead negotiations of agreements and commitments by facilitating communications between business unit(s) and IT from initial requirements to final implementation. Responsible for the management of the configuration of the ERP solution so that it meets the company's needs.
- 5% EDUCATES AND COMMUNICATES: Educates the IT organization on the direction of the business. Creates clear and coherent written materials. Communicates effectively with customers and peers.
- 15% MANAGES: Leads the management of the configuration of delivered solutions. May supervise multiple groups of outside consultants on projects.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Required: Bachelor's degree
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or other related field.
- Equivalent work experience will be considered as a substitute for a degree in some cases.
- Experience 3-4+ years of Oracle HCM technical or business work experience.
- Thorough understanding of software development processes and methodologies; also has sufficient breadth to understand how different business processes interact.
- Detailed understanding of the ERP used by the company
- Expertise in Oracle HCM Cloud modules, including Core HR, Payroll, Benefits, Recruiting, and Workforce Compensation.
- Ability to work across more than one professional discipline (for instance, Marketing and Merchandising)
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills needed; ability to drive solutions to complex problems. Finds solutions using a systematic, multi-step approach. Initiates and innovations and solutions where precedents and procedures may not exist.
- Has a working knowledge of trends and best practices in their particular area of discipline. Has a high level of expertise in not only the ERP but related products that interact with the solution.
- Ability to collaborate with groups and lead discussions toward setting and achieving goals and create cross-departmental plans to achieve them. Leverages multiple teams, actively encourages intra-group cooperation.
- Communicates effectively with peers, customers and vendors in both verbal and written formats
- Can self-prioritize work required to achieve goals and can assist others with supervision and prioritization of project-related goals. Develops goals for other groups or departments and manages them toward their goals as it relates to the needs of the ERP solution.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Word) and Microsoft Project.

Working Conditions /Physical Requirements
- The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, retail stores, and residences or commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, etc. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
- The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, books, small parts; using a keyboard, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
