Infrastructure Engineers are responsible for providing a reliable, flexible, scalable, secure, and efficient IT infrastructure to meet current and future organizational needs. They have deep knowledge and hands-on experience in enterprise-wide platforms, and solve technical problems while working on technology initiatives. Infrastructure Engineers have strong architectural, leadership, and technical skills. They ensure delivery of high-quality artifacts, define standards and configuration for the IT infrastructure, and ensure adherence to these standards. Costco Wholesale is looking for a Storage Engineer to design and implement highly-scalable storage solutions within a large enterprise environment, and drive Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) initiatives. The Storage Engineer is responsible for the design, technical administration, support, and maintenance of an enterprise Storage Area Network infrastructure. The Storage Engineer will be involved in strategic planning and implementation, capacity planning, daily monitoring and tracking, auditing, consultation with other departments to resolve issues and concerns, and analyzing and recommending system changes. They will install, configure, upgrade, and support SAN and NAS environments. The primary responsibility for this position will be NAS engineering.

ROLE
● Leads/Collaborates the technical evaluation of all hardware and infrastructure and makes recommendations, sources quotes, and the preparation of paperwork.
● Implements practices, processes, and procedures consistent with Costco's information security policy and IT standards.
● Automates, documents, shares, educates, delegates, and improves processes.
● Automates activities and tasks by leveraging API’s.
● Automates deployment of applications and changes with CI/CD pipelines by leveraging DevOps skill sets.
● Builds infrastructure automation utilizing tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, SaltStack, etc.
● Evaluates vendor hardware recommendations for operations reliability.
● Designs and implements solutions to meet business needs while developing and enforcing system and security standards.
● Builds prototypes of potential features.
● Creates conceptual and detailed technical design documents and standards.
● Enhances automation of systems and platforms and identifies opportunities for streamlining and continuous process improvement.
● Collaborates with architects to plan, design, implement, and improve new capabilities, enhancements, solutions, and/or platforms.
● Partners with project managers, solution leads, and other stakeholders to establish the rough order of magnitude estimates for infrastructure components of projects.
● Contributes, interprets, and communicates enterprise, technical, project, and operational strategies to the team.
● Develops team vision to drive new capabilities against a published roadmap, in conjunction with management.
● Ensures that proposed and existing systems are aligned with organizational standards, goals, and objectives.
● Formulates and directs activities that align short term goals and long-term initiatives while providing accurate and timely estimates (work breakdown schedules).
● Works with teams, management, and stakeholders to conceptualize, design, build, test, and release products.
● Analyzes user and project requirements for solutions.
● Identifies and resolves problems, often anticipating issues before they occur or before they grow; develops and evaluates options and implements solutions in accordance with incident and problem management services, policies, procedures, and SLA’s.
● Designs storage solutions based on best practices for scale up and out.
● Works with vendors to understand the applications, strategies, and roadmaps for current, updated, and emerging technologies.
● Drives automation initiatives for storage creation, configuration, and provisioning.
● Develops business cases to justify strategic investment in systems architecture, including analysis of future growth and cost reduction opportunities.
● Provides technical engineering and design review for new storage platforms, applications, infrastructure, and hardware.
● Identifies and reports Key Performance Indicators, focusing on capacity planning and performance analysis.
● Provides and maintains Storage Area Network support in a heterogeneous platform environment (Windows, Linux, VMware, AIX, and i5/OS).
● Manages environment for storage allocation, data replication, monitoring, performance, and capacity analysis.
● Provides support for troubleshooting and problem resolution related to storage devices and host connectivity.
● Tests and implements new tools to better manage storage infrastructure.
● Documents storage administration processes/procedures to ensure optimal levels of support.
● Researches, analyzes, and recommends changes for required system growth by utilizing industry standard monitoring and research tools.
● Implements policies, procedures, and technologies, and follows established security standards.
● Collaborates to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of corporate storage to meet business demands.
REQUIRED
● Experience with:
● SAN/NAS administration that includes provisioning, administering, and tuning NAS environments for a large enterprise environment.
● Data migration and replication.
● Automating existing processes with scripting in PowerShell and Unix shell.
● Enterprise NAS such as VNX, Unity, and Netapp.
● Current hands-on experience with hardware and software troubleshooting.
● Experience working with Fibre Channel SAN, CIFS, and NFS based storage arrays.
● Experience implementing hybrid-cloud storage solutions within an enterprise environment.
● Comfortable making scripted changes across a large enterprise environment.
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-service focus.
● Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
● Strong technical documentation and writing skills.
● Scheduling flexibility to meet the needs of the business, including weekends, holidays, and on call/ pager responsibilities and support on a rotational basis.
Recommended
● EMC and/or Netapp Proven Professional preferred.
● Experience with:
● Cisco SAN.
● EMC Symmetrix VMAX platform, IBM SVC and EMC VPLEX storage virtualization.
● Configuring and managing PowerPath, Unisphere, and SRDF.
● Enterprise-level server virtualization technologies, such as VMware.
● Proficient in Google Workspace applications, including Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Gmail.

Pay Range: $150,000 - $190,000, Bonus and Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) eligible
