Position Description
The Compliance Risk Analysis Division (CRAD) within Economic & Risk Analysis at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) is seeking an applied microeconomist with a Ph.D., or soon to receive a Ph.D., in Economics, Finance, Statistics, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and industry experience. Economists in CRAD conduct quantitative analysis and research to support bank supervision and to advise OCC senior management on policy and regulation related to topics including consumer protection, fair lending, financial technology and financial inclusion, credit access and community reinvestment, and bank secrecy/anti-money laundering. Economists in CRAD are also expected to maintain an active academic research agenda including publication in peer-reviewed journals.
The OCC is an independent bureau of the U.S. Department of the Treasury. The OCC charters, regulates, and supervises all national banks, federal savings associations, and federal branches and agencies of foreign banks. We ensure that the banks we supervise operate in a safe and sound manner, provide fair access to financial services, treat customers fairly, and comply with applicable laws and regulations.
Salary and Benefits
The OCC is among the top places to work in the federal government. Unlike most civilian federal agencies, the OCC does not follow the General Schedule (GS) Pay Scale and instead offers a highly competitive pay structure unique to the OCC. OCC employees also enjoy all the standard federal benefits plus additional agency-specific benefits, including OCC-subsidized health insurance plans, free OCC dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) with employer contributions, and a pension plan. Position Requirement: Candidates must be U.S. citizens or U.S. nationals.
