Job Summary:

This position isaccountablefor all aspects of operations and maintenance at the Cedar Bayou 4 Plant with the emphasis on work safety, environmental compliance, quality, productivity, and employee leadership.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safe operation and environmental compliance of power plant equipment
  • Ensure reliability-based maintenance planning process is effective
  • Serves as safety management sponsor
  • Communicate equipment status and budget with Co-Owner
  • Ensure operational aspects of work management process are effective
  • Work with the Environmental Coordinators to ensure environmental compliance
  • Provide input for Operational and Maintenance budgets
  • Provides visible and active support for the plant reliability program
  • Support continual improvement and operational excellence through the following programs:
    • Safety Programs
    • Environmental Compliance
    • Conduct of Operations
    • Alarm Management
    • Root Cause Analysis
    • Reliability Centered Maintenance
    • Cycle Chemistry Monitoring and Improvement
    • Lock-out tag-out
    • Change Analysis
    • Operator Driven Reliability

  • Support outage execution to ensure safe, productive, and cost-effective outages
  • Ensuring the PDM program meets operation and maintenance needs of the plant
  • Develop/improve Operator Training and Skills Enhancement Programs
  • Maintainingcurrent written procedures to improve plant performance and to ensure consistent operation between crews
  • Developing appropriate shifts, schedules, staffing, and response programs to control costs and enhance response time and performance
  • Ensure requirements of NERC reporting are met
  • Manage plant maintenance backlogs
  • Member of Hurricane Team
  • Monitor progress of plant goals

Working Conditions:

  • Normal office environment and/or power plant environment
  • Work overtime and non-standard working hours as required
  • Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, gloves, ear plugs, etc.)
  • May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals
  • Requires operation of a motor vehicle; valid state Driver's License.
  • Requires operation of a personal computer

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma and a minimumof 6 years' experience in operations/maintenanceOR aBaccalaureate degree in an Engineering, Business, or related discipline from an accredited college/university and 4 years' experience in related field.
  • Experience with Gas Turbines.
  • Experience leading/supervising employees in related field.
  • Thispositionrequires extended work hours to support the plant as required. The incumbent is required to be available on a 24/7 emergency basis.
  • The position is a DOT PHMSA covered position and requires the successful candidate to pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen and drug and alcohol testing background check, and once placed will be a participant in the NRG DOT Program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in both maintenance and operations.
  • Thecandidateshould have a wide range of skills and experience sufficient to teach workers at all levels of the organization.

Additional Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Strong leadership ability, writing, planning, communication skills, a strong working knowledge of Company policies and procedures, along with an understanding of union labor agreements, are required.
  • Proven skills relating to computer applications such as SAP, project scheduling, budgeting, safety and industrialhygiene, and an understanding of power plant operations are essential.
  • Thesuccessfulcandidate will have experience in operations and maintenance, with demonstrated experience in operational excellence.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect, or collect data on plant equipment.
  • Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities.

Please Note: Salary offered will be commensurate with the successful candidate's education and/or experience and consistent with the job location's market pay rate.
