JOB DETAILS:
The University of Wisconsin-Stout (UW-Stout) is seeking applications for the Director of Accounting Services. The Director of Accounting serves as a strong leader for the accounting operations of UW-Stout. Areas of responsibility include general ledger accounting, internal and external financial reporting, grant and contract accounting, non-student accounts receivable, accounts payable, expense preaudit, GAAP and other regulatory compliance, reconciliation, and internal controls. This position supervises a team of four staff.

Minimum starting salary of $83,400, commensurate with qualifications and experience. QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum / Required
- Bachelor's degree by employment start date
- At least 2 years of relevant accounting management experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Excellent leadership abilities
- Strong data analysis and data management skills
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- CPA license
- 2 or more years in a supervisory role
- Experience in Higher Education
- Experience using Workday
- Direct and supervise UW-Stout's accounting function.
- Manage team by providing leadership, coaching, mentoring, career development, and performance management.
- Lead the month-end close process including review of journal entries, internal management reports, account reconciliations, and preparing financial reports for submission to Universities of Wisconsin.
- Oversee and execute all accounting activities including accurate and timely reporting of financials in accordance with GAAP standards and in line with all external reporting requirements.
- Refine, monitor, and enforce appropriate internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Manage accounting operations including general ledger, non-student accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, grant and contract accounting, and expense preaudit.
- Solve complex issues and collaborate with stakeholders on resolution with the highest standard.
- Serve as campus lead for training and questions on university accounting issues.
