Job Description

The Technician - Controls 2 will be responsible for supporting the safe and efficient production of products by ensuring the plant electrical, instrumentation and equipment control systems are operating at peak performance, utilizing state of the art technology to troubleshoot, repair and monitor equipment and processes. Lead continuous improvement activities to support sustainable reliability and increased efficiency.

What your day will look like:

  • Plan, coordinate and perform electrical & instrumentation related maintenance activities, including routine corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, equipment, and system improvements
  • Perform routine instrument calibration and corrective/preventive maintenance on instrument equipment and control systems. Duties include calibration of temperature, pressure, level, flow, and analytical devices
  • Install, program, maintain, troubleshoot, repair and service programmable logic controllers, variable frequency drives and electrical support systems
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all plant electrical & control systems, instrument calibration records and related data
  • Support team members on all aspects of the operation, provide coaching, mentoring, and training to other technicians and team members
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to ensure plant maintains a high level of efficiency and reliability
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts
  • Performs appropriate duties as assigned by management

What you need to succeed:

  • Minimum age 18 years old
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by position and compliance with UNITED safety policies
  • Regular and prompt attendance is an essential function of the job
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Ability to maintain a neat professional appearance within Company guidelines
  • Ability to maintain safety and security of Company assets
  • Ability to utilize all Company provided resources and technology
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Five (5) years’ experience with electronic instrumentation, variable frequency drivers and logic control systems
  • Experience troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating various types of electronic and pneumatic instrumentation devices
  • Experience troubleshooting, repairing, and developing programmable logic controller (PLC) and Human Machine Interface (HMI) programs
  • Experience with network and data management systems
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, or flexible schedule as required
  • Ability to collaborate with other team members
  • Ability to teach other members of team
  • Ability to be innovative and self-motivated
  • Effective organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Frequent sitting and overhead reaching
  • Repeated exposure to water and noise

Physical Requirements

Position will be required to comply with the CCBCU Personal Protective Equipment Program. Position is required to wear safety toed shoes when performing the following tasks: Operating Powered Industrial Equipment or Working in an Area where Powered Industrial Equipment is in use, Fleet Maintenance, Working with Palletized Product, Use of Hand Trucks/Dollies to Deliver Product, Cooler Services, etc.
