Position: Community Housing Technician
Immediate Supervisor:
Mission Focus: Housing Services
The Community Housing Technician engages communities in the Come Home community housing model through needs assessments, strategic housing planning, and technical assistance to assist rural and persistent poverty communities create sustainable opportunity through housing.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for day-to-day client scheduling and delivery of community housing services to rural and persistent poverty communities
- Provide technical assistance for community participants of CU's Come Home Housing initiative
- Facilitate comprehensive housing needs assessments, housing strategic planning, and technical assistance to build local housing capacity
- Assist clients in establishing a detailed housing strategic plan with SMART and actionable housing goals
- Monitor participants progress toward community housing goals
- Market CU CDFI and Housing products and other CU programs and departments
- Travel to meet with clients and provide necessary housing assessment and planning onsite.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community partners through one on one and community engagement events.
- Follow Fair Marketing and Fair Housing guidelines at all times.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned
Education / Certification Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years of general employment experience is required.
- A Bachelor's degree or 1-year of relevant nonprofit or housing development work or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle for travel to project communities.
- Must be authorized to work in the USA
Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Effectively communicate in both written and verbal formats;
- Deliver results in an environment with high-degree of self-directed time management and project management;
- Understand applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations, particularly those related to housing development and fair housing.
- Proficiency with Microsoft programs and email.
- Employee must be able to work in close contact with small and large groups
Compensation
Commensurate with experience. This position is contingent upon the availability of grant funding.
